war background

our current campaign has a war as its backdrop. I was wondering of any adventures/material that uses a war as a backdrop to the campaign. For example I will be planning on using "x10 red arrow black shield" in the future. Anybody know of anything else?

Just so you know, AEG's War has received some very harsh reviews. Monte Cook gives the book only 2 out of 10 ("How did this get published?") here: http://montecook.com/arch_review19.html

I don't have much else to recommend though, save for Chainmail which I didn't like in concept and never bought. For what it's worth though, Monte himself did a two-parter on large-scale combat (with around 12 participants or so, not a full war, but more than normal combat), in the "Dungeoncraft" articles of Dragon magazine # 301 & 302.

Hum, looks like I'm the odd one out here. I can't say War is my favorite supplement, but I found plenty in there to like. Seige stuff like pitch barrels and boiling sewage. Chapter 5 didn't do much me though.

One of my players really likes the Acrobatic Strike feat.

I stand behind my recommendation to at least check it out. Don't just take my word on it...read the reviews, look it over yourself if they can, or ask a trusted friend. If it is not your cup of tea pass on it.

I feel like I got my money's worth.
