D&D 5E (2024) Warcaster + Telekinesis (and other on-going spells)

Per Warcaster: "The spell must have a casting time of one action and must target only that creature."

Per Telekinesis: "You can affect the same target round after round or choose a new one at any time"

So if I use Telekinesis via Warcaster, can I then target other creatures on other turns, or am I stuck with just one target?


And what about Cloud of Daggers? Or is that not valid since it doesn't "target" a creature.

Cloud of daggers is out regardless.

Its when you cast the spell. An ongoing effect like telekinesis can't be used.

If you cast telekinesis you can do it.

That seems contradicting. And I see no mention of ongoing effects not being useful.
Could you clarify what you mean?

I can imagine
1: telekinesis works, and can't switch targets.
2: telekinesis works, and can switch targets.

Read the warcaster feat in full. When it triggers you can cast a spell that targets a single target.
You cant use an existing ongoing spell eg telekinesis or eyebite. You have to cast the spell.

Cloud of Daggers is AoE.

Am i still limited to the initial target, or can I change targets?

You cant use an existing ongoing spell eg telekinesis or eyebite. You have to cast the spell.

They aren't asking to use an existing ongoing spell with War Caster, they're asking if they can change the target of a spell after its initial casting if said casting was via War Caster.

The answer to which is a solid no.

AoEs are fine if you can choose who or what is affected in the AoE.
