Warcraft RPG

First Post
Hey all you lurkers! I just picked up my copy of Warcraft RPG at Gen Con Indy and was wondering if anyone else has the book and what you think of it...

Not let me note before I begin to indulge that the only warcraft game that I have ever played was the very 1st: Orcs vs Humans, so I am not a game geek who is looking for an outlet.

I think the crew put together an excellent book. Very well done and written. Lots of history and plot hooks to keep anyone busy for months. I, alao, am a big critic when it comes to artwork. The art can make or break a book for me. I could be the very best written book ever, but if the artwork sucks then I refuse to spend my money on it. (thats what is keeping me from buying Oathbound, Even though Aeris Winterood told me the book rocked) And the artwork in Warcraft is amazing!

Also, many COOL races to play with including my all time favorite: Minotaurs (called Tauren in warcraft). And something that interests me a lot....Intellegent religious orcs. (curious? Check out the book!)

So let me know what you think and any advanture Ideas that you may have come up with. I will be running this game exclusively for quite a while...and can't wait for the following books...

P.S. just to add one more thing, I did not like Everquest RPG, but I Love Warcraft RPG. Hope that helps some of you decide!

NO I am afraid that there are not any Iconic Characters in this book, But there is an "expansion" book sceduled, called Realms of Azeroth (spelling?) that might fill in many of those characters.

I am guessing that you are talking about like Thrall and those type of characters right? They do mention and describe the history of characters like Thrall and the Proudmoors, but no stats as of yet.

Would it be hard to use the book for running a game in an earlier time than the time of Warcraft III?

- I only played WC II (plus expansion) Darkness

As far as I can tell, none of the core rules have been changed at all.

There are new races, which some have the ability to take racial levels like in Arcana Unearthed.

There are new classes, but it supports all of the old D&D classes as well.

There are a few new skills and updates on the old, but nothing changed there.

There are new prestige classes based on the PC game.

There are new feats, but again all core rules stay the same.

As far as the question aboout playing in a previous era...there is a complete history from which to gather info, but i also will walk you through the rest so as to "catch you up" on thinkgs since Warcraft II.

I will be running the first Warcraft game on Sunday and I will post the results sometime after that.
I know that one player is going to be playing a giant (Half breed offspring of the Titans) from Arcana Unearthed.

Hey I just picked up Both of these books on Saturday.
I have not read all the way through Warcrafet but I have to say I like it a lot!
I am not a big Warcraft comp. game player. I only played WCI at all. Tried the demo of WCIII but I am not a big fan of real time strategy games. (I am easily distracted I guess..what was I sayning..Oh YEah!;))
\
But I really like this book. The art is excellent if you like the look of Warcraft (makes sense huh?)
And it is Totally DND from what I have read so far, just DND with the Warcraft atmosphere-flavor.
SO it is Warcraft made to fit D&D, more than anything, not the other way around.
I also don't see any problem running any time period with the basic book, personally I am looking forward to the toher books coming out and running the game in the "current time."

Saw this book at my FLGS, looked pretty good (no money at the time to pick it up). Like others have said, art is good if you like the WC3-looking art.

However, I've got some beefs with it. Not in full color (I'm easily distracted, so colors help me focus on what I'm reading ), kinda on the skinny side, and NO DEMON HUNTER PrC! I was so broken up about that. Maybe it's in the 'expansion'.

I'm sure DH (and Illidan's stats) will be along soon - they've got 5 more books in the pipe. :D I love the first one, can't wait to see the rest...
