D&D 4E Warforged might make 4E

I don't see what the big deal is. Giant Gray Rectangles have been in the game forever, but they used to be called gelatinous cubes. Folks these days are too caught up on names.

They're supposed to be clear, otherwise no one would walk into them.

What we have here is a dirty gelatinous cube.

What's really funny is that a lot of people complained that the Gelatinous Cube miniature wasn't green because the MM picture was green.

An artistic choice is made because the artist felt a transparent cube wouldn't make good MM art and suddenly we have canon for a portion of the D&D audience (even canon contradicted by the description).

The Gray Rectangle is a temple template that you apply to the good old Gel Cube...it most often can be found in areas where the cube finds itself eating mostly smoke mephits.

I <3 the warforged, but leave them in the MM and out of the PHB.

Generally, unless the critter is a really rockin' dragon or demon or something, if you apply an entire temple to it, it gets rather squished. Even small churches have that effect, as do other major buildings.

Yes, they were confirmed by whoever was writing the appendix that covered certain monsters in the PC format (warforged and gnomes come to mind as being mentioned). I think it was James Wyatt, but I may be wrong.

Andy Collins confirmed that it would be in the MM, and would probably also be in the appendix for Monsters as Races.

If one firefusks the image, you get some other interesting ones in a series. Potentially the mini they didn't want you to see...

You know, of the myriad varieties of helmets throughout history, I think 'conquistador's iron hat' is one of the few I've never seen a player want to have. Also, that sword is dumb. I can see why they hid the mini from us (possibly because it's not a WotC mini... ) - I wouldn't associate myself with it either.
