Warforged rumor ideas

Voadam

Legend
In my Ptolus game there is a theocratic empire beset by civil war. One side has a church mage/artificer named Lord Cannith who has discovered a process using ancient magics to create sentient church golems for the war effort. He has started creating legions to be sent against the other side. People are starting to hear about these warforged and rumors are starting to spread about them on both sides.

I've got a few but I'd like to hear other suggestions.

1 Their creation corresponds with the recent births of soul-less children. Souls of the unborn are actually used in the creation process to grant the warforged sentience, thus stealing a vulnerable soul from a woman's womb elsewhere in the world.

2 The warforged are holy vessels of the Lothian church that provide a housing for Lothian's angelic servitors to manifest in the world and join the fight directly.

3 The warforged are intelligent, but like all golems are absolutely bound by the commands of their creator, Lord Canith.

4 The warforged are chaositech creations that house the spirits of evil fiends, servitors of the fiend lord who has corrupted the central imperial church.

5 They are actually plant creatures, some type of vine folk, with armor bolted onto them, not constructs.

Any other suggestions?

Oh I like all of those. Any would work, but how about this:

The church creates them, but they require a human sacrifice. Zealots are recruited to offer up their lives to become unstoppable paladin warmachines. However the opposition has made a deal of their own with the dark powers in Ptolus to create hellforged, warlock warforged. They are fewer in number, but are designed for stealth and strategic attacks.

Souls are pulled from the afterlife (maybe unknowingly by the creators) to give life to the warforged.

They are made by the church, but are slowly developing their own religion. When there are enough of them, they may try to take over the church and re-purpose it to their new god.

Yeah, I like the soulbinding idea (use it in one of my own settings [Parlinia]) but... let's come with something for Ptolus.

1.) The Iron Mage, one of the most talented mages of Ptolus, is rumored to have sponsored Cannith's creative endeavors. Though there may be no base to this rumor, the rakes who war with the Inverted pyramid claim the Iron Legions as the next step to the inevitable takeover of that corrupt facility and deliverance of magecraft from the clutches of the magocratic regime.

2.) The fear of Cannith's possible hold on these newly created supersoldiers has caused hundreds of petitions to fall on the shoulders of the Twelve Commanders and their own lieutenants. The people of Ptolus fear these new creatures more than the threat of outside influences.

3.) House Erthuo's support of Cannith has fallen by the wayside. It is rumored that Lord Cannith's household had inappropriate dealings with one of the House's lesser members, and that certain tomes have disappeared from Erthuo's collections.

Ehh, three quickies.
