The much-anticipated Wrath & Glory Warhammer the 40,000-roleplay game, as announced in August 2017, is on preorder now, and we can also show you the core book’s cover wrap! The RPG is crafted by award winning game designer Ross Watson and published by Ulisses North America.

The adventures in Wrath & Glory take place in the new era of Warhammer 40,000 that was introduced with the 8th Edition of Warhammer 40,000 miniatures game.

This is a galaxy torn asunder by a great warp storm that altered reality itself forever bringing the great rift.

Pre-Order Campaign - What You Get
The Wrath & Glory preorder campaign is not a Kickstarter or crowd funding. This campaign gives fans the opportunity to purchase bundles of the new products at significant savings. They are the first to get the new game, expansions, and supplemental items, months before they become available in stores for the general public. Along with the preorder, Ulisses North America is adding bonus material for fans plus other spiffs on the Pre-Order Campaign.

What's New?
Wrath & Glory is first and foremost a role-playing game. What’s new and different about the Wrath & Glory RPG from other RPGs? Lots! Here are some examples.

Simple yet Satisfying
Wrath & Glory game mechanics are easy to grasp but detailed enough to make characters clearly distinct for other characters.
Baked right into the game are rules and benefits for doing things that your character is particularly good at that gives great opportunities for role-playing. For example a commissar may have the objective of threatening someone with execution for being a coward while a priest must bring up a famous martyr and the effect of his death on the players.
Wrath & Glory is built to be encompassing to different styles of play, different type of characters (both archetypes and races). Unlike the previous version of Warhammer 40,000 there will be no new systems or rules to learn as new campaigns and settings come out. While the system is simple and effective enough for a novice to learn, it offers the expert an opportunity to face varying degrees of challenge and adventure.

Character Spotlight
Warhammer 40,000 has spawned countless novels, novel series, board games, video games, hundreds of miniatures, incredible artwork. In total more than any other game setting published. Players can create their own stories in this grim and dark far future. The character design and play style of the Wrath & Glory RPG makes every character player a key to the success of any scenario.

The Grim 41st Century Setting
Fans of the 40,000 Warhammer universe understand the grimness of this far future and will find Wrath & Glory an immersive experience into the setting that’s true-to -lore with depth of detail experienced in character play.

Role-playing Game players who have never played Warhammer 40,000 miniatures game or don’t know the game setting will quickly be immersed into an incredible setting that’s ripe for role-playing.

It is a fun and quick moving RPG allowing players many opportunities to participate in the game to build the strength and resources of their character.

[small rant]

i would have really liked to have jumped in with the "everything" box, but I simply cannot justify the cost. Shipping to Canada is $50.00US. this one product would cost me nearly $450.00CAD. that's crazy money for a role playing game!. $290.00 is more expensive than the Torg base game Cargo box from Kickstarter, and that came with way more perks, material and bonus content. the announced "bonus" material for 40k IMO is weak - a sample pdf of a race that's going to be in another splat book, a discount for a t-shirt and the free RPG Day adventure. the all in option was originally announced at $275, but jumped to $290. As much as I want to be a completionist, if I'm going to support both Torg and 40k, recent trends indicate I'd have to be spending more than $500/year. that's simply too rich. so, core books it is without any of the nice extras or just pick up the extras that seem nice if available as add-ons at a later date.

they need to both pack more value in the "all-in" option and to figure out how to economically ship internationally.

it kinda makes me sad because I have every single FFG 40k and WH Fantasy product, and I don't think I'l be able to do the same this time around as much as I'd want to. FFG's books were expensive, but 60 bucks is Waaay more affordable than $250.

[/minor rant]

I got a chance to play 40k at Origins this year. it was a blast. the system is solid, the mechanics worked! waaaay less whiff as compared to the FFG rules. its a better game. Ironically, the only deck that was being used at the table was the critical hits deck. which suggests to me that the other decks are highly optional.

The comparison to Torg is an interesting one. I wonder if the differential lies in the cost of the licensing from Games Workshop, or if it's the difference between "taking a chance" on a Kickstarter and doing more things to hype up the game and eating the cost as if it were "advertising" vs. putting it out using a more traditional pre-order model because the setting already comes with a built-in customer base and there's less advertising needed.

I'm in.

Seeing this game, the art and the fact its based on the new 8th edition setting of W40k and checking out all the preview stuff they have put out on drive thru and the one shot adventure they did with BoLS has converted me to a W40k fangirl.

I am now wanting to read the novels of this setting, and I'm more excited to dive into this universe tand I'm even considering giving the minis game a try.

I am seeing all this as a person with fresh eyes and while the all in preorder might seem a little expensive... I'm looking at it as an experience and something brand new for me to really explore.

(1) The Cubicle 7 game is the classic Warhammer Fantasy 4th Edition using a ruleset very similar to the very first ever Warhammer Fantasy Role Play edition, so basically a percentile D100.

(2) Sadly, Ulisses North America is publishing Warhammer 40,000 (call it the very far future of Warhammer) and uses a D6 dice pool, similar to the miniatures wargame.

So, I get the different design choices for the Warhammer Fantasy vs Warhammer 40,000, but the price of WH40K pre-order is so high due to the special D6 and other cards being bundled, which if you ask me, are not strictly necessary. :-(

Why is it sad Ulisses North America is doing Wrath & Glory? I think they did a great job on TORG.

Ill probably buy, but no preordering. Time to get the ship fixed and begin the Sareco Rogue Trader Dynasty once more!

Ill probbably be picking it up. Also they are actually different universes. They just share a crap ton. Though that doesnt stop the fan theories lol

As recently as 3th ed 40K and 4th ed WFB, the Warhammer World was located in an N-space pocket amidst the great chaos storm. The references to this were in odd places, but were there.
