Warhammer Fantasy Role Play news

Who cares? The setting is neat, and would be great for either d20 or GURPS.

(I want to run a GURPS Warhammer game. Someday. Of course, if Black Company is as cool as it looks, maybe a d20 Warhammer would work, too. :) )

Exactly why they should re-publish EW

I have all the Enemy Within released, and while I very much enjoyed them (some more then others they REALLY are poorly organized. Also some of the reasons for the players to get involved where pretty weak (i.e. heavy railroad). But the overall story was cool if you could figure it out ;) and the maps were GREAT.<snip>
That's exactly why they should re-publish EW (after cleaning it up offcourse)
It is a great story, but the organisation is indeed lacking. I always felt like the books were a cut and paste job from magazine articles.

I don't mind the railroading though. With a story spread over several books and with such an involved plot and timeline, you should expect a certain amount of railroading.

Nothing really, grim and nasty is built into the system with hit locations and hit effects, magic is point system. In a way it was ahead of its time by offering career paths. World background has been around from the early days of WFB. It is not that it is new but an alternative.

AND as to what made the world different the D&D or GURPS? Hmm while character gen was random (did not like that) but your Professions were KEWL (unless you got Rat Catcher). Also some professions were better then others (Troll Slayer vs. Rat Catcher are just an example)

Don't you mean especially if you were a ratcatcher? I mean, you got a small but viscious dog and a ratter's pole with D6 dead rats, what's not to love?

The Auld Grump: Olaf Schindle Rat Catcher extraordinaire... Sole Survivor Kramer's Kompany

Damn right! My small but vicious dog saved the day more than once, thank you very much. Long live Aedwyn Clannath, ratter without parallel or peer!

If i was just venting steam at a game, the a troll killer would be fun.,

But for an extended game that pole of rats will plague a few annoying towns that don't treat you well

Make no mistake, the Warhammer world is a frickin' dark place. Things might look fine on the surface, but at the end of the day, its all doomed to destruction at the hands of Chaos. Being an adventuring hero is often nothing more than a fast road to corruption, or if you're lucky, an early grave. Corruption is THE fastest way to power, bar none. Of course, there's the problem where you become nothing more than a sock puppet for the nightmarish beings of Chaos, but I still say that serving Slaanesh is a good career option!

That the most powerful combat career is based around a desire to die in combat really sums up the world for me. And I played the Doomstones saga through to its ending, with the GM choosing the "Warhammer Ending". That was...interesting.

What's different? Percentage system, and damage can pile up really fast, if it gets through your toughness and/or armour. Magic is points based, and makes you a magnet for witch hunters. And Chaos is drawn to you like moths to flame. Not surprising, considering that Daemons are nothing more than raw magic given an evil sentience.

I can't wait, especially is they update the Skaven and magic. I loves my Ratties.
