Warlock Edlritch Blast Progression Error?

Hi all,

I picked up Complete Arcane and was reading up about the warlock class when I noticed something odd:

The Edlritch Blast damage progression goes up at 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th level (every 2 levels). But then it changes to increasing at 14th, 17th and 20th level (every 3 levels. I might be wrong about which levels, but it's still every 3 levels). At epic progression, it goes up at 22nd and every 2 levels afterwards (24th, 26th, etc.).

I find it odd that the damage progression changes like it does. Is this an error that was overlooked? Or is it intentional?

i always figured it was intentional so that the max damage came out at 20th level.

It's possible, though it might have been done by having the raises in damage increase at the same levels as a fighter gets bonus feats and basically kep the every 2 level progression. I'm wondering if they didn't do it so as to keep warlocks from tossing 10d6 damage blasts at 20th level.
