Warlords of the Accordlands - Wow!

>>If you can help with answering my questions, it'd help.

I'll try, once I get my hands on the books. I don't have any of the original files (yes that would help). I wrote all the spells and feats. I did checking on a large handful of monsters, and helped with story elements and putting classes together. The other reason I need the books is to refresh my memory, I worked on this nearly 4 years ago! :)

The creature you are describing sounds like quite a mess. I honestly would need to see it to comment further. My copies should be here soon.

I will say this, some things folks take for granted are reworked differently because of the nature of the world, particularly planar creatures and the like, IIRC. Lots of little things which may be perceived as errors are actually part of the campaign's environment and tweaks to the standard d20 system. I do remember pointing out quite a few things to my developers who wrote back saying it wasn't an error, the rules were tweaked.

It's a shame however that the monster books doesn't point out those things for folks who won't have the other books in the series.

Namely, I ain't letting any of this into my game until I give it a close inspection. Way too many serious goofs on just a once over for me to think there aren't more, serious errors in the CR system. Like the Unclean Spirit. a 3 HD Undead with a CR of 8. It's got some nasty abilities, but nothing to justify its 18 HP butt troubling an 8th level party.
OK Psion, I stand corrected. That is reminiscent of FF.  :heh: :(

Thanks for the aid!

I'm aware that this book is for a Campaign Setting & not D&D. I'm prepared to accept some things are going to be wierd (Subtypes were the first thing to jump out at me).

I know there will be some wierd favored classes & some feats I've never heard of before.

But this seems to go way beyond this.

Again, I might be wrong & I've already hit all the big boo-boos. Statistically, it's possible.

But editing/printing errors aren't caused by a Campaign Setting.

Some of what I've seen I'm more than willing to yell "Campaign Flavor" on, but this seems to go beyond that.

DM Jeff --

Do you know if this will be available as a PDF sometime in the future? I bought all four books already, but having the PDF also helps since I use a PC at gametime.

Pdf

I will find out who I can contact about this and ask. I personally don't know if they're doing a PDF. I do know AEG was very quick to jump on the DriveThrough RPG PDF program and so I woult think they would explore this option! I'll keep on it.

Hey, thanks! Yes, Happy BD to us!

As for Accordians, yes, that joke's gone around since it was first promoted. The Warlords setting was the D&D campaign of AEG's president back in the early 80's. I presume despite naming convention goofs from folks, they chose to stick to it's original name in honor of the setting.

"The story of the Warlord universe begins with a dragon, but not just any dragon. The Eternal Dragon, a creature the size of mountain, with power so terrible that entire kingdoms were laid to waste. This beast terrorized and ravaged the lands of men, elves, and dwarves for centuries, until all the races and nations of the world banded together to defeat it. The spirit of cooperation and camaraderie born of the titanic struggle among all the races created the Accords. The Accords brought peace and prosperity to all, so that all the lands of the world became known as the Accordlands."

My home brew world of Quais has been around since 1983, and while my old players don't bat an eye now, when I mention the name to folks today I get a (deserved) quizzical look!
