Seriously, how fast do those people read that the spoilers are already up? Or has GRRM all of a sudden decided that 300 pages is enough for a novel?

And how does this matter, really? Surely the publishers don't expect everybody who's going to read the book to buy it as soon as it comes out and then read it straight away, without visiting the Internet in the meantime? Because I reckon that most readers besides the most rabid of fans will probably be reading the book over the course of about six months, depending on whether they pre-ordered, whether they have the money to buy the book straight away, whether they want to start reading straight away, how fast they read, how much free time they have, etcetera.

German posters on westeros.org are saying that several bookstores there are now selling copies, by using the leak as a justification.

They've also shut down the ADwD forum on westeros.org, so some people might already have been posting spoilers.

Dioltach: if someone is the sort of person to intentionally spoil things he wouldn't need to read the book. He'd just need to read the last pages of the last chapters.

On a more serious note, I have read that the IMDB message boards which discuss the HBO series now feature several topic threads, the ttles of which are blatant spoilers for ADwD.

You know, that's almost enough for me to go to IMDB and start threads with wildly unlikely ADwD "spoilers," like "ZOMG has Tyrion no shame he hooked up with Mellisandre!*"

But I'm not nearly dedicated to trolling enough to do that.

I don't actually advocate this, most especially the comment about Kit Harrington, as some people might believe this and great misery would be inflicted upon them.

Besides, it's not as if the people who read the book and spoiled it will be fooled. They know better.

Might be the best "fake/spoiler" topic would be the thread where someone goes in and bitches about how they just got served by Bantam for copyright violation and Bantam is seeking "statutory damages" against said spoiler/poster in their statement of claim, claiming they tracked an IP address to this forum.

Now THAT might have some short-term entertainment value
