Warped Binding in the FR Player's Guide to Faerun?

reiella

Explorer
Got my copy of the Player's Guide yesterday, and every single copy that my FLGS got in had warped binding. Warped as in it looks like a magazine was stuck inside the covers for a few monthes before being shipped.

Just kinda curious if other folks had similiar, or if my location/area was just unlucky?

Hi,

Mine is also warped (as were my copies of Fiend Folio and Savage Species). A couple of months jammed into my overfull D&D bookcase soon sorted them out.

Cheers

Suspected as much (for fixing).

And it might just be my timing/perception, but it does seem like Wizards are getting a bit sloppier with the QC on the books? Or might just be that they're pushing out more hardcovers.

I know my UA came with pages ripped :( (got that fixed nicely at least).

Where did you buy your copy? I will be ordering mine this week from Leisure Games, just wondering so that I may avoid certain places in London.

Either put them in a snug bookshelf or place it down on a flat surface and stack books (or weights) upon it. After 12 to 24 hours, it will flatten out.

Someone suggested to take a nearly damp sponge and wipe the outside cover, place a towel to blot and protect whatever weight you stack upon it.

The only thing you can blame Wizards is their choice to go with the bookprinting company that does their books.

True. I work for one of the biggest publishers in the country and we see this a lot.

Also, we often do not know about these problems until our customers call us to let us know, as these books are often shipped straight from binderies to get them out faster, and no one at my company ever sees them, until someone sends them back to our main warehouse. It's hard to explain but basically, we trust that the binderies are going to do their jobs properly. It's not always the case.

Call Wizards and let them know. They might not even know about this yet.

I wonder if bookprinting companies are aware of the warped binding on hardcovers? And is that industry taking step to prevent that?

I'll be honest. I don't know what my company does but I'd imagine they keep a close tab on which binderies have problems, and then cease to use them if the problems keep up.

I think that's all they really can do. I can't imagine a company would pay millions to a bindery to have a bunch of books printed and then not complain loudly to the people in charge if they screw up.
