Warped Dungeon Tile Fix?

Hello all.

I noticed yesterday that a few of my larger Dungeon Tiles have begun to bow in the middle. Admittedly, I realize that storing them upright probably wasn't a good idea. I'm guessing flat storage is the best. This has also happened to the tiles that came with my Black Dragon Basic set (the older set). For sure I want to save those, and they seem to be warped the worst.

Anyone got any fixes?

Lay the pieces flat so that they bulge upward. Take a large, heavy weight and put it on the tiles. Wait several days to a week. Remove the weight and check on the level of flatness. When you are done, store them flat, or upright between two large books that are snug in the bookshelf.

Well, I'll try that, though I did do this already, but not for as long as recommended.

Just curious, anyone else had this happen yet? The first release of Dungeon Tiles wasn't that long ago. My Basic Game ones I can see that happening to, they've been in the box on a bookshelf for a year or so...but the others are pretty new. They were stored upright in a magazine box. Nothing too extreme.

Just sort of surprising.

It shouldn't matter how you store them, they're made of lightweight, rigid material. They should never bend under their own weight unless the material is compromised. I would guess that they're getting wet somehow. Maybe humid conditions or accident-prone housemates?

If the weight thing doesn't work (and I don't think it will), you could try to hold a warped tile over steam until you get it in a pliable state. That's how curved boards are made. You might want to try it with a tile you're not too attached to first, because you might find out they peel or wrinkle.

My best guess is that moisture got into them somehow. Was it hot and humid or overly cold and damp where they were stored? What about any books that may have been stored near them? Have any of your hardcovers warped at all?

Nope. That's what makes this surprising. It's a closed room with a well sealed window. My hardcovers haven't done this, as they're stored on a bookshelf, but laid flat rather than the traditional way.

Bear in mind though, I'm not talking about severe warpage. They're usable...just a little wobbly. The Basic Set ones are pretty bad, but they don't have that plastic-coaty stuff that the new tiles have.

Oh and Bullmarkone, I thought of that, sort of. I was considering clamping them down flat under a thin piece of wood, then laying an electric blanket (or something) over top for an hour or two. The iron might work, but I don't think the damp towel will.
