That's the book by Goodman Games right ?

I got it and I quite like it. I really like the fact that it contain only stuff from the PHB.

Even if there is a lot of tables and numbers crunch it's written in a fun and easy way to read. It's not a dry technical book.

Some things you could figure on your own.

The power attack table is quite handy :)

One thing I tought was missing is in the weapon comparison section: they didn't include exotic weapons.

If you need to know more details, just ask and I'll answer when I get home tonight.

Phil, you must have read my mind. I was looking at this early today and I was thinking about picking it up. My question is, is it all really technical number crunching, or is there some practical advice on feat choices.

They classified feats as either:

- Not worth your time
- Look good on paper but sucks :)
- Good choice

And they explain why.

Oh, and in case you didn't get my email, thanks for the pdf.

It was too number crunch and meta game like for my tastes. It does what it was desinged to do very well though, so if the book idea sounds good to you; you should like it.

Oh, I got a couple hundred emails. :-) You'll get a response from me sooner or later. In any case, your welcome. Let me know what you think.

I found it an excellent book, which I now return to with each new character. While it does get extremely crunchy in parts, everything is well-explained in a readable style. I would guess that true minmaxer-munchkin players will shrug their shoulders at most of it (e.g. "well, duh! How obvious!") but for the rest of us it is a very useful resource to avoid silly decisions. For example, even *I* could realize that Toughness sucks as a Feat Choice, but I would have completely missed out on Improved Critical, especially on high crit-range weapons. Just using that made my current character *much* more combat-effective than my previous ones.

Pretty much a word for word.

My problem wasn't with the number crunching so much as it was in sticking with SRD material. I'm pretty good at pulling together SRD material but what happens when you add X, Y, and Z? It's a different ballgame.

I bought it. It's much too Min/maxy for my tastes though. I bought it so I could "get into the mind" of some of my more min/maxy players. :-p
