Was D&D the game you introduced role playing with?

Funny you mention the prison thing. That was a pretty common editorial in Dragon from the print issues anyway - there is apparently a pretty large population of gamers in prison. I guess having large groups of (fairly) young men with very little to do makes for pretty large gaming populations.

That and the army apparently. I know when I was in the reserves, gaming was pretty widespread. Finding a group where ever I went was pretty easy. Lugging those damn books around wasn't though. :)

Gaming is the second best thing consenting adults can do with each other, right?

The first thing is often out in the listed environments, so... :p

Back when I was starting out D&D was all there was.

But, generally speaking, I often introduce youngsters to gaming through wargaming and to role play gaming through D&D, though I use a self-created hybrid in that regard.

Since it was the only role playing game in existance at the time, I started with D&D (white box, three booklets and a folded sheet with tables).
