Was there errata to the Shield spell?

I seem to recall the Shield spell being changed from the PHB version, but I can't find anything in the errata. Was there some change, or did I just imagine it? :)

The D&D FAQ states that the Shield spell gives only a cover bonus, not actual cover. That is, you get +7 to your AC, but you don't get a Reflex save bonus or any other benefit of cover.

This is considered official errata for purposes of the Living Greyhawk campaign, but it's not in the errata lists per se.

Now the only ? is the faq close enough to errata for you?

For me usually yes it is. In this case I hated the sages description of the shield spell in dragon magazine, oh it's an invisible wall of force that stretches infintelty upwards and side to side, bi secting the abtlefield and giving +7ac to just the wizard from all attacks on one side of the battlefield. The mental image just doesn't work for me.

Now an invisible, mobile disk of force about the size of a tower shield, that for ease sake gives a flat 3/4th cover to one side of the battlefield is a nice simple mental image that I can deal with. Also when it comes to power level, a simple +7 to ac for minutes personal only seems a bit weak compared to mage armor even though it is a cover defense and much more stackable. So the couple extra benefits form actual cover don't bother me. Also considering the wizard in my game cast tensers floating disk and strapped a tower shield too it, any problems with shields power kinda seemed trivial.
