Water combat rules?

Does anyone know of any good underwater combat rules? My PCs may find themselves in a swamp next game, and just might take off into the water. The DMG is sketchy, giving rules for drowning and swimming, but what about fighting, spells, etc.?

Any good resources? Preferably online. Not that I'm too cheap to buy a good book, but there's no gaming stores near here. A couple bookshops carry the basics, but anything more advanced I'd have to order.

I think there were some posted on the WotC website as part of the web enhancement for RttToEE. They aren't really very detailed, but I use them and convert the stuff from the 2E supplements.

I think there are rules for underwater adventuring from a 3rd party company too for 3E.

Our newest release, "Broadsides!" has an entire chapter dedicated to rounding out the underwater combat rules. We cover everything from the way spells act to fighting underwater (with and without enhancing magic).

"Broadsides!" is will sonn be available for $19.95 from your local gaming store, or you can order it online from our website.

Thanks - I'll take a look. I've always loved naval games - some of our best 2e games were with Pirates of the Fallen Stars. Great fun. And I do need some water rules asap.

Has anyone thought about trying to convert tthose rules, I admit they were a good set of rules.

If you can, check out Dragon #291 (January 2002), the one with the iconic gnome illusionist on the cover.

Skip Williams did a 3-page article (pages 60-62) entitled "Water, Water Everywhere" that covers quite alot of ground.

There are water combat rules in the elemental plane of water section of Manual of the Plane. It pretty much covers melee combat. Its doesnt talk about ranged weapons or elemental attacks much. (The way I read it, it is even possible, although difficult, to cast fire spells underwater. But I haven't read that recently.)
