wave of spam -- just me?

I read a story recently that there is a company offering $5 + $1/hour to download a client and browse the web... kind of like SETI@home... thing is, it uses the spare cycles to send spam. This could be related.

I noticed a significant increase (roughly double normal volume) starting Monday. Since the spam I get peaks from time to time, I didn't pay much attention to the increase.

Definitely. I'm up from about 5 spam messages a day to over 15 each day of this week. The odd thing is that I'm only seeing the increase on one of my three accounts, and it's not the one I normally give out to websites.

Kind of makes me wonder if my ISP turned off a spam filter or something. Is anyone else who has seen an increase seeing it on a charter.net address?

this is why I ended up developing a scheme of emails for different purposes. I know that not everyone is capable of doing this, but it works really well for me.

Currently, only two of my address get any spam.

I have no less the 3 email accounts I check regularly, as I ascribe to this thought as well. The purpose of joining the email list was hoping to hear more info about the gaming company. If I set it up so the email arrived at one of my spam accounts there would not be much reason to sign up, it would probably get lost or forgotten.

Of the three I use regularly, only the hotmail account seems to have gotten the increased spam, and it is the most used and second oldest. None get into my actual inbox, but I have to screen the junk mail folder for those emails from people on various forums or possible job ops.

Mine's shot up in the last week or so.

There was a noticeable decline after some recent UK legislation to try to make spam illegal, but I've gone from about 5 to 20 or 30 messages a day.

Which is way more than one third of my email. Probably more like 95%. Who makes these statistics, anyway?

Is it just me? The past couple of days I've been deluged with spam, much worse than normal. Some kind of worm going around?

Hi Eric,
Actually there are 2 new worms going around, one is a derivative of the NetSky worm (NetSky.Y worm variant) and the other is Gaobot.worm.gen. Hope this helps!
