(Way OT) How bad is the heat wave in Europe?

It's raining! oh my god... it's raining!

Hi Will! I live in Schwabing, near Petuelring (about 200m from the BMW-tower). What about you?

tas.

It is a small world, but I wouldn't want to paint it. I am also in Schwabing, near Luitpold Park, between Belgrade and Schleißheimer Str. how bizzare, we live probable about at most a km apart... hahaha :D :p

Just to put the "insufferable european heat" into perspective...yesterday it was 150 F in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Oddly enough, I only just got back from Dubai, U.A.E. at the end of last week during the heatwave. The big difference is that the Middle East region is used to this heat so EVERYTHING is air conditioned.

Anything more alcoholic than 3.5 beer will dehydrate a person with dire consequences.

What's the difference between 3e beer and 3.5 beer? I knew there were a lot of changes in the new rules revision, but still...

:D

So by far the most of the time there's no need of AC.

I'd think everybody needs a good AC, or else you're going to get hit all the time. Certainly, any fighter needs to have a decent AC.

:D

Anyway, I hope everyone's remembering to count the subdual damage they take every hour that they endure the heat. If you survive an entire day, this will enable you to estimate how many hit points you have. :D

BTW, is this stupid diving rule still existing (Pressure damage when diving deeper than 50 ft.)? Man, in that case I'd have lots of hp...[/end hijacking this thread]

I wish to say a few things:

I also am hearing of thousands of deaths due to the heat wave.
I happen to think that very tragic.
Read about what it's like - what it does to your body - to die of heat stroke.

The people at ENWorld know the rules about politics.
The people at ENWorld aren't stupid, nor are they ignorant of the rules.
But perhaps some people at ENWorld want to control what is said here, and to deliberately get any thread they don't like closed, so they DELIBERATELY DISCUSS banned topics like politics, just to cause that to happen.
My thanks to the moderators for protecting this thread. Especially to you, Dinkeldog.

The current world record for heat is 136.6 degrees Fahrenheit, set in Algeria.
A close second is a reading of 136.4 (or perhaps 136.2) in Death Valley, California, America.
Mind you, that is the temperature in the shade.
In the sun, especially in the desert sun of the tropics and subtropics, it is much hotter. And obviously the temperature of the actual ground is hotter ... it can reach 200 degrees.

No person, no matter how acclimated or strong, has any chance if he is caught, unprotected by clothing and with no shade to get to, in the desert during the summer day without water.
The sun will literally cook him to death.

Man it's so unseasonably cool here I've hardly had to turn the AC on this month. It's usualy in the 90's with high humidity, it's over 90 today but it's supposed to go back into the 80's next week.

Most of the deaths were just really old people that were at death's door anyway - as you can see from this quote:
"Up to 3,000 cases is plausible, primarily of old people or the very weakened, for which heat would have precipitated the death."

Which just illustrates the beauty of my earlier post. It all goes back to population control!!

On the other hand, Zogg, they are all humans, and the majority will have familiy and loved ones, who will miss them and regret their passing.
3000 people died 9/11, is their death also just population control? Is your life worth less because you are old? I don't want to hijack this thread, I just think your comments are less than thoughtful, and I feel the need to respond.
Obviously you have never had anyone you loved die on you.

No, Rasmus, he is more clever than that.
If he starts a fight on this thread - and your post signals the beginning of a fight - the moderators will close this thread.
Then he wins, for that is what he wanted, was for this thread to be closed.

Edena, don't flatter yourself. You need to take a chill pill (no pun intended).

Rasmus, it's quite simple. As the world's population spirals out of control and our resources dwindle, more people will die. Were we to make efforts to control our own population (as we currently do with the populations of domesticated animals and livestock) such regrettable and "tragic" deaths would be far less common. You'd be surprised at how many political arguments can be solved through the use of population control.

I really have nothing more to say, and hand this thread back over to Edena and her moderator lackeys.
