Wealth Bonus in d20modern

I'm trying to convert a Wierd Wars camapign over to d20modern (a set of rules I like MUCH better). My only hangup with the new rules are the wealth-bonus systems. UGH! Especially if I'm trying to import creatures/characters from other settings, getting treasure and the like to convert is damned difficult. Anybody already come up with an alternative for the wealth bonus system?? Help me!

I'm also guessing WOTC will come out with a conversion number soon, as an alternate system. In fact, it wouldn't be that terribly difficult to convert the wealth points to dollars based on the charts as they are. If you do go the dollars route, I would strongly suggest you ditch any notion of credit or debt, and make it an all cash system. It would be too easy for characters to say "I use my credit card to charge $15,000 and buy weapons - heck, if this missions is a success, I will have the money to pay it back. And if the mission is a failure, well, I will be dead and so who cares?"

i've never read Weird Wars, but i don't see why a PC in WWII would necessarily need money. wouldn't all equipment be assigned or requisitioned (or borrowed or stolen, as the case may be)?

It's set DURING wwII, but they're not all soldiers...

My PCs DO need money, since none of them are actually part of the military--I'm trying to go for that "Indiana Jones" feel, allowing them to cap all the Nazi's they want, without having to storm the beach at Normandy, etc. I think the chart in d20m may be all I need, but I'm still interested in somebody elses homebrew system, if they have one...I just haven't put in the time to make one myself...

ahh, i see. i thought i heard someone say that Weird Wars PCs were all in the military. my mistake

Not your fault. That's the way it's supposed to be--but it didn't appeal to me. I bought the books for vehicle and weapon stats, and was chagrined to find there was no indication of how much they cost--or really ANY way to know what was appropriate for characters to have....

They already have. There's a chart on page 204 of d20 Modern that converts Purchase DCs (up to 50) to dollar equivalents.

Yeah, I just got to that part last night, after posting that message. So they do!
