Fellhammer
Large Martial Bludgeoning Weapon
Cost: 24 gp
Damage: 1d10
Critical: x3
Weight: 20 lb.

Basically an oversized warhammer on an seven foot iron or steel reinforced haft. Often used in long sweeping manuevers, this weapon has reach. You can strike opponents 10 feet away with it, but you can't use it against an adjacent foe.

Hunting Spear
Medium Martial Piercing Weapon
Cost: 10 gp
Damage: 1d8
Critical: x3
Range Inc.: 5 ft.
Weight: 4 lb.

The hunting spear is a tipped with a long thin blade roughly a foot in length and balanced by a three to three and a half-foot haft. The haft often tapers away and ends in feathers or other adornment. Balanced for quick devastating jabs in a single hand, many of the plains elves and other tribal races that wander the open areas carry three to five of these as they are not the greatest thrown weapons.

I'm not at home to do actual comparisons to existing weapons, but based on a spot assessment neither seems over/underpowered.

I picture the fellhammer being swung in wide arcs, which might make it different enough from most martial weapons to make it an exotic weapon. At the same time, I don't think it has enough extra oomph to justify spending a feat just to gain proficiency in it. I'll take a peek at my books when I get home, memory willing. ;)

On an aesthetic level, I like the idea of the fellhammer. I'm a sucker for reach weapons. ;)

Mayeb you could give the fellhammer a +2 to attack when using the whirlwind feat? I don't know if that makes it exotic but I think it is neat!

Why the Fellhammer ? The Maul from FRCS is basically the same weapon, only difference is that it cost only 15gp, instead of 24gp.

From the FRCS, page 97.

Maul: The maul is simply a two-handed warhammer of enormous size. It is favored by dwarves. (Large Martial Weapon; 15gp, 1d10 damage, x3 critical, 20 lbs, Bludgeoning).

Edit: Sorry, missed that the Fellhammer had reach, should probably be an exotic weapon then ..

We use instead of the maul a warhammer stepped up one size so it does 2d6 damage. 3E seems to basically discourage people from using blunt weapons almost with the fact that they often deal a dice size less damage than related weapons of slashing or piercing. I basically made a glaive that was bludgeoning, HUGE RULE BREAKING! Heh... not really.

Sounds fine to me. I have a sledghammer in my games that's just a blunt half-spear that can't be thrown.

Also, the maul is a normal melee weapon, while the fell-hammer is reach. And no one ever uses a maul, everyone sticks to huge warhammers.:D

EDIT:L I like the idea of something having to do with swinging it in huge arcs for a bonus, though... +1 on cleave attempts or whirl-wind attacks would be cool, though that could bump it to exotic.
