Weapons of Legacy tidbit

I've been seeking out posts by Charles Ryan on the Wizards boards, and I came across this:

Expect to see some other "alternative" systems in the future. For instance, Weapons of Legacy (out in July) will contain new ways for dealing with some types of magic items (and not just weapons); some even broader alternative systems will be included in products slated a little further down the road.

Interesting.

I wonder if they'll be doing an Unearthed Arcana style book again? I did that book. Wish they yanked more d20 Modern stuff out of it like occupations and Advanced Character Classes...

Interesting. Will WotC have some way of separating 'alternative' rules with the more 'official' rules? It's easy to look at a book like Unearthed Arcana and understand everything there is 'optional' but if other 'official' books are peppered with stuff that the DM needs to apply more descretion than usual, it could get confusing.

The alternative rules in Complete Divine and Complete Arcane have been clearly labeled as variants; so I'd expect such to continue.
