Weekend of horror

Hey Lord Zandoz, can you post some of your ideas over in the Creepy thread? I'd cut and paste your posts here, but I thought I'd ask you first.

Also, Jack99, let us know how the weekend goes!

Well, I guess you could say that it went great and really bad :)

The horror parts worked like a charm. Now, as I mentioned earlier, my players are fairly jaded, and since I couldn't procure a goat at such a short notice, I never managed to scare the sh*t out of them.

However, they did think there had been "perfect horrific atmosphere" for a trip to an evil undead-infested island. They loved especially the battlefield scene and the "shadow of children"-scene, and it was mentioned that it was probably one of our best sessions in a while.

Sadly the campaign ended with a TKP Sunday morning at 3.30 AM, when my sleep-deprived players made a few fairly big tactical errors when fighting some nasty greater shadows.

Such is life

Once again, thanks for the hand, you guys are as always an awesome help and inspiration.

You can curb this.

Have them come back to life. Somewhere on the island. Possibly separated, in various states. Seriously, you can start messing with their mind now. "You wake up in a coffin. Claw your way out."

Maybe they're undead. Under the sway of the island. Maybe something else "Granted them their lives back (for a price)." TPK doesn't have to end the CAMPAIGN. ;)

Yeah, I thought about it, but 18 years of DMing for these guys has taught me the hard way, that they can smell a DM-save a mile away, and they prefer to be without them.

So i opted against it, and when we talked about it afterwards, they agreed that it was the right choice. Even though they were sad to lose their characters, they love being able to die, so that when they succeed, it's because they played smart and not because they were helped by me.

We have already moved on, and are making characters for a wilderness-based campaign that will start next wednesday.

Cheers
