WFRP/40K games shut down by GW [merged]

This clinches it, I'm going to have to run down a couple copies of DH. These sort of things you either pick up on the spot or just never see them again. A decade from now these things will be selling for half a dozen times what they cost as collector's items.

While I hope I get a chance to run/play the game, this was the sole factor in my purchasing decision today. I just want to make sure I get it.

(Assuming I ever get it. I ordered it online.)

I also own at least 2 copies of the original Rogue Trader, the old Compendium/Compilations, both of the Chaos books, etc.

I'm set for source material, really...

Funnily enough I was just thinking it might be time to run some WFRP for you guys - once Mage is out of the way, and maybe some CoC or Traveller or DS as well (depending on who else wants a turn at being GM :) )
That would be awesome! We never got very far in our old games but had lots of fun nevertheless. I'd be up for that for sure.

Anyway, BI closing down - shocking news given the games they published were AFAIK sucessful. Suprisingly honest announcement however - no skirting round the issue of it being a purely financial decision.
Indeed. Judging from what hewligan says above, it doesn't surprise me. I did know that GW had invested heavily in the LotR brand, but didn't realise that they had suffered so badly as a result. Ever seductive is the lure of the Ring... ;)

Looks like 2008 could be a reasonably cheap year for me RPG wise - only 1 WFRP book due to be published, not sure about 4e, no more 3.5 stuff apart from Pathfinder, and Mongoose Traveller due next month (but honest, I'm just going for the core book :) )
Yeah, same here. Done with D&D except for Paizo (and even that will peter out once they shift over to 4e). It's just MRQ Elric now for me. Oh, and the Traveller core I guess. And maybe some more tiles. Hawkmoon looks pretty cool too. And there's Corum on the way as well... :uhoh:

Anyway, I'd best be off and finish writing up the rest of tomorrows Traveller adventure - this time you guys may actually get to fly in a starship and everything. Honest. Mwahahahaha...!!!!
Thag not afraid! Thag laugh at danger, especially once Str, Dex and End damage go away. Thag have magic hat and not scared of anything.

Not happy at all.

Huh.

If I were a conspiracy-minded sort of person, I'd think this was a tool to promote the new product line and goose sales.

But that would be kind of unlikely, and prone to vicious feedback. Plus, I already pre-ordered my copy (B&N.com, with a coupon, $27!).

And I suppose it's good that they're at least printing the stuff they have in the pipeline.

End of Warhammer and 40 k

Black Industries regret to announce that Dark Heresy: Disciples of the Dark Gods out in September will be the final product to be released from Black Industries.

For the time being Black Industries will continue to post articles in support of the products on their official website, which is a fantastic resource for scenarios and gaming tools for GM’s and players alike.

Sad news....

true. I really liked warhammer frpg and was looking forward to more books (I was hoping for a dark elf book).

The question have is, does this mean they're not reprinting the books? Or just not remaking new ones? Now is the time to pick up the 40k rpg.

Apparently last month was the time to pick it up, as both versions are listed as "Sold Out" at the Black Industries site. And, yeah, this sucks.
