What´s a 15th Lvl Commoner ?

A syndicate representative ?

An Elder peasant ?

I can picture a third level commoner as a better than average farmer... but 15th lvl ?

Do keep in mind that this super farmer has two attacks (+7,+2), +5 on all saves, 15d4 hitpoints (avg 39 hps) and many feats as well... :)

A contradiction in terms. :)

The DMG stats out advancement rules for NPC classes essentially for the sake of completeness. All the other classes go up to level 20[*], so the NPC classes do as well. However, that doesn't mean you have to use all those levels in your game.

[*] which is even better than going up to eleven

Well, it's not a 15th level Expert. ;)

If somebody's going to make it to 15th level, they're probably going to have better training (ie. Expert, Rogue, or whatever) or they won't make it through all those challenges.

Basically, I agree with hong.

The wrestling champ of the local villages? No weapons training, or training to wear armour. A farmer most of the year, but come festival time....

Think of them as being wizards without the magical aspect :)

Think of an old 15th level wizard beating the 3 1st level townsguard with a nonmagical quaterstaff... and not using magic.
