I don't believe in the no-win scenario
The world is slowly decaying into a sprawling wasteland. The last remaining metropolitan population was forced to band together and make the community mobile so they could keep strength in numbers while traveling to any resources necessary for survival. One fateful day a lone harbinger appeared out of the wastes...

Maybe he's going home to tell his mom that the walking city followed him home and he wants to keep it as a pet, and he promises he'll feed it and play with it and clean up after it and take good care of it.

In the foothills about Mount Celestia, the Cathedral of Martyrs marches the perimeter of the heavens, ready to provide succor to new arrivals and ready to wage war against those unworthy who would dare to approach the heavens. Those it finds wandering it tests with questions whose volume booms for miles, or draws those hesitant to answer for trials within the mazeworks within.

Those who pass its challenges emerge rested to continue their journey towards the mountaintop, and those the church finds worthy it arms with the holy armaments of heaven to take the fight back to the mortal realms - or for those bold enough, to the realms of evil themselves.
