D&D General What’s the story here?

Ok, here's my attempt:

This is a primordial who's punishment for losing the Gods War was to be turned into a temple complex where every god in the multiverse has a church.

Each structure remains mostly upright while the primordial is in motion, but sways gently, as if you were aboard a ship, causing church bells to ring throughout the city.

The city is alive with the songs and chants of the faithful, the smell of incense, the hum of prayers. Every religion is represented here, and new structures are created when new faiths are formed. But the city is also alive in itself, bound to serve the will of the gods. It is possible to communicate with the primordial in an empathic way by visiting the 'heart'.

The governing body is the 'Corpus Divinus', the theocratic council, who are chosen seemingly at random by the primordial from amongst all the churches. Each member of the council serves for a time and then is replaced. While each church can impose its own laws on its own territory, powerful constructs that follow the will only of the primordial itself are the ultimate justicars of the city.

The clergy of each church are responsible for feeding and housing their own faithful. This is usually done with magic. Larger churches with more powerful priests are able to support larger flocks.

Pilgrims travel from across many worlds in order to worship here. The influx of travellers has created an economy with inns and markets, all managed and operated by different religions.

"Modern urban planning to reduce our footprint!"
the lead artificer: "Reduce?"

I reckon it's where the maruts dwell when they're not out enforcing contracts.
