I loved the preview articles and the preview designer books (Worlds and Monster, Characters and Classes), they had me strongly anticipating 4E. I was very excited by the design philosophy and concepts stated in those releases. So I bought the core books (4E PHB, DMG, and MM). And I was sadly disapointed. So I decided to stay with my houseruled 3.5E. However, I didn't consider the books a waste. I liked a lot of the concepts, I just didn't like how they were applied and the overall feel the new system had. So I "stole" some of the mechanics and concepts for my houseruled 3.5E system, including: Death and Dying concept Skill Challenges Consolidated Skills Increased Hit Points at 1st level Action Points Healing Surges and Natural Healing concepts Minions Powers for non-spellcasting classes (use 3.5E spells for magic users but at-will casting) Rituals Other 4E products I bought: Forgotten Realms Campaign Guide - I'm an FR junky, I can't resist the official material.
