What are you best at in an RPG?

I'm really only a player and not a great one at that. I'm good and I'm getting better, though. My strong points are that I usually guess plot points a few steps ahead of most of the group and I can follow rping clues from the DM.

As a DM I'm best at coming up with compolicated plots and keeping them together.

As a PC I'm best at organizing the group and getting them focused on one thing. I'm also very pragmatic and really try to accomplish things.

As a player, I'm pretty good at tactics, puzzles, and making effective characters.

As a DM, I'm known for my over-the-top portrayal of NPCs, whether it's the high-pitched, machine-gun rapid patter of a hyperactive gnome or the oily, ingratiating, cloyingly smooth speech of a supposedly friendly arcanaloth merchant. I'm also known for running adventures with a plot if you're interested, but which also can be played as a series of combat encounters if you're so inclined.

Player or DM, I'm also the rules guy in my group.

As a player I'm not good at much. I almost always play the same character type (steely-eyed hardass) and I get bored ery easily, particularly with extensive "planning discussions"...I get more and more frustrated and bored as my fellow players hash out posible scenario afte possible senario, trying to cover all outcomes. GAH!

As a DM, I'm very good at improvising (to the point where I mostly don't plan "Adventures" as such, but rather just understand how my setting works and make it respond to the players actions).

As a player, dramatic action. I'm all about action-movie-esq combat an dialogue. So much so that its become kind of a joke in my gaming group.

As a GM, I'm pretty mediocre at everything.

Getting better though.

Show Me the Money

I'm best at spending gobs of money on minis, terrain, books, dice, food, etc. I even buy extra player handbooks of whatever game we're running so we'll have enough to go around.

This lets me be a big jerk and get away with it, or I'll threaten to take my ball home. I can also get away with dice fudging and none of the other players say anything, knowing that I may cut off the free 40oz train.

Seriously, I'm best at tactical planning. You can't roleplay when you're character is dead!

As a player I am best at role playing. Actually I suck at most everything else - problem solving, tactics, figuring out mysteries.

As a GM, well, I am much better at creating believable NPCs, creating an interesting mystery, etc. But I am still no damn good at tactics. In games like D&D I just throw a ton of monsters in lieu of tactics. I wish I could run the game and then when it came time for a combat, have a replacement while I go out and get a smoke or go post something silly on ENWorld.

I'd like to think my talents fall into the "making a living world with a rich story" area.

Oh, and also I'm good at using my "NO" stick to beat the whining min-maxers. Just last week a (now former) player in my game begged for 15 minutes for me to give him (and just him!) Fast Healing 10 + additional points per level.

Apparently, you can't please everyone. :/

I'm best at tactics - seeing how the battle is going, where things need to be fixed, offering decent advice to people that need it.

I'm normally good at character builds that are effective without being munchkin, eg making good solid choices that lead to a decent character without making other people in the group go "Are you allowed to do that?"

As a player I have a few strengths. I'm real good at coming up with characters that showcase aspects of the setting come with built in motivations to adventure. And I'm really good at analyzing and keeping track of all my different characters' moods and motivations and hang-ups (I don't like playing perfect characters, I prefer them to have at least some personality flaws). I'm not the best RPer, but I'm adequate and very good at keeping my characters from doing anything out of character.

I'm not necessarily the best at strategy and tactics, but I am good at coming up with plans that allow the whole group to work together rather than the more efficient way of having eveyone act as a meat shield for the wizard while he solves the problem with spells. I like to help give everyone their moment to shine.

I'm also good at reading the DM and encouraging the rest of the PCs to go in the direction where the DM has the most cool stuff planned, but doing it in character.

Away from the table I am also a good sounding board for my DM's worldbuilding ideas (we use his old and extensive homebrew setting) because wew have similar ideas of what's cool.
