What are you going to do with d20 Future?

I'd be really interested to see how d20 Future matches up with Bulldogs! or Dragonstar, both of which I've read nothing but good things about. I don't currently run d20 Modern because of a lack of interest, but this is probably one Modern sourcebook I'd be very interested in. I'll have give it a quick read to decide.

Let's see... I definitely would like to do something Battletech-like. I'm a big fan of starship combat and dogfights too... so I'll be trying to design some of that stuff, if possible. Or, for a more comic book-like feel, I'd go with PL 6 with a heavy emphasis on mutations.

The preview's certainly caught my interest, no matter what.

Fitzhugh and Floyt

This popped up on another thread recently-- I'm thinking of adapting Brain Daley's Third Breath series (Requiem for a Ruler of Worlds, Jinx on a Terran Inheritance, Fall of the White Ship Avatar)...it always seemed like it would be a fun sandbox to play in.

Just have to finish out the summer classes first...

My main campaign idea involves a scientist 'cracking' the puzzle of empty-space energy, and the ensuing chaos caused by the fight for the solution for 'unlimited' energy. It would also assume (unlike the Mars series) that quantum technology had come into use, so there would likely be AI (because of quantum computing), very flaky matter-transportation (good for sending raw materials like metals, bad for anything complex), technically correct methods for time travel (but requiring faaaar too much energy to actually try), and instantaneous communication over unlimited distances (so long as you can get entangled matter to the 'other end').

So, with empty-space energy, all sorts of things become possible; quick interplanetary travel, short (~5 year) trips to the next star, limited time travel, high-powered beam-weapons, 'creation' of matter, and so on. This would, of course, cause horrible things to happen to the status quo, so 'the man' wants to keep empty-space energy 'down'. The PC 'races' would consist of terrans (who would be standard humans, unless you didn't want all the other races to have a STR penalty, in which case they'd have a STR and CON bonus from the lack of exposure to low gravity and radiation), martians (fairly tall, skinny guys), and non-planetary people (reeeeeally tall, skinny guys).

I think you mean zero-point energy. Also just because you have unlimited energy doesn't make everything off the bat possible. They still got to invent the stuff. :)

Its gotta be a Harry Harrisson rpg for me!

Deathworld or Bill the Galactic Hero or Stainless Steel Rat. Come to think of it I think Deathworld will be a Starmunchkin game instead :)

A Space Corps campaign for BtGH would be pretty cool to throw together.

It'll be a mix of WH40K, Traveller, Cowboy Bebop, and Star Frontiers with a underlying cyberpunk feel to the technology. I'm calling it Beyond Frontiers.

There is the Regency. There are the Megacorps. There is the Enemy. There is danger all about. But for those who run amongst the stars, outside the reach of them all, there is only the next frontier. And what is beyond.

The hand of the ancient Regency reaches far across the Galaxy, but its power is waning. The megacorps are beginning to win their battle with the Church, though they still secretly struggle with the demands of the Technocracy. The Enemy strikes into the Fringe more with each passing turn, and concern grows that it will come to war, one that many feel cannot be won. Yet there is still hope. On the eastern rim of the Arm, a world has been discovered that may save humanity. Or destroy them.
