What are your all time favorite rpg games, and why?

1. D&D - Just the main game these days. I play it at least once a week and I really enjoy it. There is just so much material available, and a lot of it is pretty decent.

2. WFRP - Played it for years - from 1986 to 3E.

3. Millennium's End - The mechanics - man I love that system.

4. Ars Magica - Starting a new campaign this December - I cannot wait! The whole troupe roleplaying idea is very cool - and the amount of player involvement really attracts me to the game. The magic system is a ton of fun as well.

D&D

Why, because.

I guess I never really thought about it. I started with D&D. I've looked at a few other FRPGs (not many though) but was never really convinced.

I've never really been interested in RPGs in other genres, though I did dabble a bit in Star Frontiers long ago.

I'd be hard put to pick ONE favourite RPGs so...

Amongst our weaponry are such diverse elements as :

Skyrealms of Jorune : Most evocative post-apocalyptic medfan meets science setting with great artwork and cool ideas.

Fading Suns : Best Sci-Fi RPG in my book ever.

Tribe 8 : Nearly got to GM that once. Most excellent setting (if a little depressing ;)) and hugely enjoyable story arc.

Rêve de Dragon : The best French RPG bar none. Out of print now, but most excellent.

Mage : The most original and yet playable game I've been given to read... and play !

D&D is my all-time favorite, but I also liked BESM. It was fun to occassionally take a break from the more complex D&D system and just whip out one book and be able to do anything with it. It offered nice, simple rules and was good for any genre.

D&D/AD&D -- The first one I played, and the one I've played the longest.

Traveller -- first science fiction RPG I played. I really like this game. It is so flexible and diverse, you can play so many different kinds of campaigns with it.

Cyberpunk -- Something about the setting and style has always appealed to my latent criminal side. When we get tired of playing goody-goody D&D characters, we don't play evil D&D characters for a change of pace -- we play Cyberpunk until we satisfy our bloodlust and desire for larceny. :)

D&D 3E: Favorite game to GM. I stayed away throughout the 2E years, but came back big time.

Deadlands: Favorite game to play, although I haven't in a long while.

Rifts: Ran my best campaign ever for this game, although 3E has really put me off Palladium.

Delta Green: Favorite game product I own and have never ran or played. Hopefully D20 Modern will change that. Until then, I can actually sit and read those two manuals like I would any literature and just bask in the conspiracy.

Stormbringer: Everyone was either Melnibonean or Pan Tangian, with bound demons up the wazoo. Fortunately, our GM was good and really made the game about something other than combat.

Dungeons and Dragons (any edition) by far

Then:
Traveller
Shadowrun
I also like Palladium games (Heroes Unlimited, Mechanoids, etc.) but the rules really are in need of revision and refinement.
