• NOW LIVE! Into the Woods--new character species, eerie monsters, and haunting villains to populate the woodlands of your D&D games.

What are your D&D plans for 2014?

One Ring RPG as a player.

AD&D 2e - as a player of the cleric PC, I'm in a beach war against the Sahuagin over in Greyhawk. More of this, please.

D&D 4e - the large game where I DM I hope the PC's hit Paragon in April. The small game, with 2 PC's (a real life Mr. and Mrs.), run more. Maybe run another quick game. Keep playing in the Play-by-Post forums here. Love to play another live at tabletop.

Other RPG's - Having fun with a long term revival of TORG. More games as a player would be good. Also looking at a 1930's - 1940's Film Noir RPG that I feel I can run standing on my head.

Some historical wargaming (several different epochs, but mostly FoGR and some WWII of various rules).

Many different boardgames, some new to me, some not.

I'm planning to start a new campaign in 3-4 weeks with my preferred system to this point - 3.5 ed, E6 variant. I see no reason to change to 5e YET, and maybe never.

I hope my brother will continue running his 4e campaign for us; we may actually get to play IN PERSON!

And I might occasionally run a game of Dungeon World for some other friends who visit occasionally.

My updated plan:

Continue 4e FR campaign fortnightly Mondays through to ca August 2016.
Starting Pathfinder fortnightly Sundays campaign shortly. Should run 2014 to ca August 2015, with a break September-January.
Continue online BX D&D weekly campaign another 9 weeks then rest it, possibly resuming in September.
Play Labyrinth Lord campaign another 2-3 sessions, then it's finishing.
Avoid 5e like the plague - I have too many D&D versions already! If it has great supplementary material (from WoTC - hmm... :heh:) useable in Epic Tier I might get some of it for my 4e FR
game.

If 5e is a great success I might look at it late 2016/early 2017, but I was pretty burned by the early cancellation of 4e, and I have a great long term 4e campaign going, so no desire to adopt. I have issues with 3e/PF in terms of mechanics, but Paizo seem a much more reliable company and put
out tons of fun product. Assuming that's still the case in late 2016 I might start a new Pathfinder campaign then. I came up with some tweaks for 3e/PF that should make it run ok for levels 1-10 or 1-12, which is equivalent to Heroic + Paragon Tiers in 4e.

Well..not that anybody knows me or cares but...

I am currently playing Pathfinder with Iron Kingdoms next.

I am running Call of Cthulhu for the next couple of months and then a bit of 13th Age.

I have Runequest 6th Edition to take out for a spin as well. Looks great.

that said...Towards the end of the year...I will most probably buy the new D&D.

I will have a good read. I hope it might well be enjoyed for years to come.

I am not overly confident that it will be any better than anything I have already but I will enjoy reading the books and I bet the artwork will be worth the price of admission. Fingers crossed.

I may hang on for a second printing to clear up the most obvious errata though.

:)

After an 18-month hiatus, I came back to TTRPGs early last year with a vengeance!

Group 1: My bi-weekly Roll20 Adventurer Conqueror King System is still in early levels, it should continue well past the end of this year.

Group 2: My other bi-weekly game is 13th Age. I expect it will end in the latter half of this year. Planning a Savage Worlds XCom game for when it's done.

Group 3: Last month a bunch of people I know but haven't roleplayed with got together as a new group to play a monthly game. The current GM is starting with a short Pathfinder game so we can get a sense of the style of the group before moving onto something else (DCC, Hackmaster, Fate, 13th Age have been bandied about).

Group 4: A friend was running Dragon Age bi-weekly for 6 months, but it sputtered out. I'm going to meet with him and another player this week to see if we can kickstart the group with a different game. Might be 4e.

I'll at least get the new PHB to check the game out. Hard to say if it'll get much use yet.

I’m currently DM’ing the Age of Worms AP, using 3.5E rules. We’re about halfway through the 8th adventure. However, my wife and I are expecting child #3 in mid-February, so I only have a couple more sessions max (we play once a fortnight) before I stop playing for several months.

After that point I’m not sure what will happen. I’ll start playing again at some point in 2014, but it will be as a player, rather than as a DM, since that will allow me to leave the table as needed to help my wife put the older children to bed, help with the baby, etc. One of my current players had said he may run Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil for the group, but nothing has been confirmed.

Of course, 5E is also due out sometime during the middle of the year. Unlike 4E, I’ll probably buy at least the core rules to see what the new edition is like. So our group may end up playing a 5E campaign (although I wouldn’t be running it).

So I’d say this year is going to be a bit unexpected in terms of my roleplaying. I’ll definitely be playing at some points during the year, but I have no idea what edition or campaign.

Still plan on playing primarily Pathfinder with the Sunday group (currently in the midst of Skull and Shackles).

We'll probably mix some Next into the Thursday Night group. One of the GMs is itching to run a story around Zhentil Keep based on his 2nd edition materials. Converting to Next looks like it's got potential.
