What are your favorite pre-3e D&D/AD&D books.

Isn't that the book where the first print of volume one had a major typographical error because of a search-and-replace edit that changed "Mage" to "Wizard", so that every reference to the word "Damage" became "Dawizard" ?

It's one of my all-time favorite TSR editing gaffes. :)

Another all-time favorite is a promise of "terrifying monters" (as opposed to "monsters") on the back of the "Chronomancer" accessory.

"What the heck is a monter?" :D

That's not a typographical error. The author was probably from Chicago. Remember, that was when Da'Bulls weren't an embarressment.

Hey, I'm originally from Chicago! BTW, the heroes in our second campaign are named "Da'Bears", as the big tough-guy fighter carried around a teddy bear (plus the SNL Da'Bears skits were popular at the time we started it).

Well, I'm originally from downstate Illinois myself, and a long time Bulls fan actually.

Yup. That was one of the funniest typos TSR ever made. :D

When I first saw it, I wondered, "What the hell is a dawizard?" This is because D&D used a lot of unusual terms like dweomer and such, and thought this was just another one of these. I realized it eventually, though and I thought it was pretty funny. In spite of the typo, the product was good though.

I loved the Saltmarsh series (U1-U3). I've run U1 on its own several times, replacing the lizardman in the ship with whatever baddy I planned on introducing to the campaign.

that 2e CD that had all the core books, the skills and powers series of expansions, Tome of magic, and the complete series all in one.

It was great not having to haul my books to the game but still have access to them.

The dragon CD archive is another really good one.

I liked the wizard and priest spell compendiums a lot as a huge resource.

The forgotten realms Faiths and avatars, powers and pantheons, and demihuman deities are the best deity books I've ever seen.

My favorite campaign setting was the first ravenloft boxed set, great gothic D&D horror perfect for my style of DMing.

The role aids Demons set was a lot of fun.
