What are your go-to dice?

Most go-to would be Die Hard Dice (Elessia line w/ gold or black numbers; I like this font esp.), as well as Infinite Black (Elder Sign Green d6; this is for when I happen to run Vaesen).

For the former, if you find you also like this font, you may want to check out their Rerolls line which are recycled; also can not praise their purchasing/customer service more highly.

What is the use case for a d24? Just curious.

===

For a long time, and especially as I age, my #1 priority for any set of dice is: the numbers must be readable. Which had led me mostly to solid-color backgrounds. I can put up with fancy backgrounds if, and only if, the numbers are still readable.

Yeah, my youngest got me dice for Christmas a few years ago that have gold metallic numbering on a translucent amber body. They're basically unreadable. They stay in the bag because they were a gift, but they won't ever be my go-to.

I have so many dice! Lately I use Shipwreck dice from a local manufacturer.

But I do have a few sets of DCC dice that I use for DCC. I have that d20 from FreeRPG day. I have set of metal dice that I used for a long time, they are hollow and jingle.

I have a couple of clone dice of the classic sets, from GaryCon and Gaxland that I used for a while.

I have the Tomb of Annihilation dice from WotC I was given for running at GaryCon or Gameholecon for GenCin, I dint remember which. I love those dice but the d20 roll high a lot a lot so I don’t use it as much anymore.

I have some from Black Oak that I like.

I also have some actual classic dice that I don’t use….

I have dice from my kids too.

For DCC, I have a plain black set that was my first DCC RPG dice set. It's not as funky or colorful, but they treat me right.

For all other games, I've got a set of amethyst dice, and set of candy corn color scheme dice that both make me happy.

For anything that requires (only) the standard 7 dice or a subset thereof, I have a bag with opaque black and white Chessex dice (4 sets each, so I can push "bad" dice to the side a couple of times ;)). As others have noticed: readability trumps fancy looks here.
Beyond that, I have a set with gold on black (Beaked Unicorn) for DCC; 2 sets of the Free League dice for Forbidden Lands; and one black and one yellow set for Broken Compass. But naturally, these only come into play for the specific systems.

Damn right! Misbehaving dice get put into quarantine; they must not be touched with bare hands. Rather, they are scooped into quarantine using a dice box or perhaps pushed off the table with a pen.

They are allowed out next session.

Only once has a set of dice behaved so badly for so long that more drastic measures were called for. In a savage ritual involving my driveway and a hammer, the orange d20 and a few d6s and d8s were executed as a lesson to the others.

Many of us have fun exotic dice or crazy collections. That's not this thread.

What dice do you use most of the time when playing and why?
Usually... Ones I pulled from the bulk bin at my FLGS.

I have some sets for specific games - 5 matched gray sets for Sentinel Comics.
7 sets of 5d20 (red, yellow, blue, dune orange, green, offwhite) for 2d20 system games.

Dragonbane: 2 sets of the official. I just love the shade of green.
T2K I've 4 sets of official, plus 2 or 3 sets of Blade Runner. Same functions, different symbols for those functions. (no autofire dice in BR). I use them all together.
