What book(s) to buy?

When in doubt, turn to collected wisdom...

I spent an afternoon helping out with inventory at one of my FLGSs, so I now have $45 in store credit to spend. The question is - what to do with it? After spending over an hour yesterday looking over books, I completely failed to narrow down my choices. In just about any book if I flipped around for a few moments I could find something interesting.

I don't own d20 Modern, or Mutants and Masterminds, both of which are fine games. I could pink up the core material for one or the other - but I'm not likely to use them very often.

I could also pick up some D&D supplement - my campaign uses lots of undead, and is probably going to also have lots of aberrations as time goes on, so a good monster book might be in order. Or something with interesting rules tidbits...

So, folks - given a small windfall for gaming products, what would be your choice?

I've heard a LOT of good things about M&M2, though admittedly have never played it.

What about C&C or Goodman games modules? (I know, I know - things I like ... but maybe you would like them too?) :)

Tome of Artifacts
d20 Modern is cool.
Cthulhu d20 is nice too if you don't own it. Delta Green d20.
Star Wars Saga Edition, Pathfinder, if you can wait?

Undead and abominations for D&D.

1 WotC Libris Mortis and Lords of Madness. Undead stuff and then in-depth mindflayer and aboleth nastiness.

2 3rd party stuff,

a FFG Necromantic Lore and Twisted Lore for concentrated 3.0 monster books focused on undead and aberrations respectively.

b AEG's Undead, Mongoose's Slayer's Guide to Undead, should both have relevant material, as well as Goodman Games Complete Guide to Vampire's, and Complete Guide to Liches, Bastion Press and Green Ronin's Vampire books and that one company that put out a series on zombies, liches, and vamps (Lords of the night?).

c aberrations, uh, Denizens of Avadnu and Bastion press' Minions, have monsters with art that would fit the freaky creature niche.

I will say that Lords of Madness is very nice. For a different take on that kind of Undead/Aberration combo is to pick up Heroes of Horror as a very nice supplement to augment your ideas.

The only time I got some store credit (helping out at the one Game Day the store took part in) I picked up Libris Mortis, and haven't regretted it.
