What can you do on a horse?

If a character is mounted on a warhorse is there a limit of things he can do?

Can he/she guide with knees and order the horse to attack? or does the character need a hand to do this?

ALso, mounted characters get +1 to hit against medium and smaller creatures right?

Thanks!

EDIT (MORE QUESTIONS)

What other cool options dop you have for mounted combat?

THis is a second level character but I am planning for the future.

Yes. He can only take a single melee attack if the mount moves more than 5 feet (as it takes all six seconds to get multiple melee attacks off). This is the only limit that I can think of.

Yes, he can guide the horse with his knees with a ride check of DC 5, and if it's a warhorse, can even signal it to attack in unison with him (the rider) with a ride check DC 10.

Correct. They get a +1 higher ground bonus to their attack roll against medium and smaller creatures assuming a medium creature riding a large mount.

And for more fun, keep in mind that small creatures mounted on, say, a riding dog can be mounted even indoors!

Well there's the fun, drop down behind your mount to take cover with a ride check, mounted combat to negate hits on your mount with a ride check, animal handling to give you a synergy bonus to your ride check, battle bridles from Magic of Faerun to give you circumstance bonuses to your ride checks, the ability to mount as and kick your mount into motion as a free action with a ride check, the ability to remain in the saddle after a tremendous blow with a ride check, the military saddle to help you make that particular ride check, and many other ways that I can end a clause of a run on sentence with the words "ride check".

Ride skill important, neh?

Check out the section on mounted combat in the combat chapter of the PHB, and read the ride skill entry 3 or 4 times to get a better handle on things. :)

I'm sorry, I have nothing productive to contribute, just wanted to mention I collapsed in giggles when I saw this headline, and I've only just recovered.
