What causes double and triple posts?

I've had this happen a few times. I'm just curious...what causes this to occur? Can it be prevented? Or is it just one of those great mysteries of the internet?

We're having some trouble with the new reply screen not loading, although the post has actually gone through already. So what's the obvious thing to do when faced with a "hanging" post? Click a few more times. :)

If you're ever in doubt, instead right click->open in new window the forum list, and see if yours was the last post in that thread. If so, you're okay.

Anyways, we're working on it!

I open the thread itself on the few occasions I've had any problems, doesn't matter if someone sneaks a post in right after that way either.

The boards get slow and people press the reply button more then once.

So only click once!

Maybe a little message like that should be added to the submit reply button, similar to what some online retailers do.
