What character would you add to this party?

Well, I could use some advice for the new character in our party - the new player is open to suggestions, and I believe we could use a "pure" wizard or sorcerer, but this still leaves the question of race & class (or PrC) to be answered... Or would you choose something else entirely? A tank? An assassin? What?


We play in a 3E Mystara campaign (just finished a modified version of The Lost City), and this is our party right now:

Human (male), Rogue3/Wizard4, a pyrotechnician and snakeoil salesman, going for Arcane Trickster

Lizardfolk (male), Fighter5/Order of the Bow Intitiate1, will later add some levels of Peerless Archer and Deepwood Sniper [this is a *weak* Lizardfolk variant, i.e. no extra HP and such - thus the low ECL of +1]

Human (male), Barbarian1/Druid5/Shifter1, will go for the full 10 levels of Shifter

Risen Demon (male), Paladin3/Cleric3, going for Warpriest (the race is from FFG's Mythic Races), Charisma 20 and incredible saving throws

Human (female), Cleric7, follows a goddess of passion, has *tons* of charisma & Greater Spell Focus (Enchantment)



- Now, what would *you* add to this party???

I'm not sure that with the abundance of Divine magic in that party a straight Arcane caster is all that necessary. A straight Rogue might be more useful. *shrug*

well, she certainly has nice stuff we could use - if she falls asleep...

I agree a dedicated Rogue seems to be lacking.

Otherwise i'd say a Bard could prove beneficial to the group

I second the bard idea. I think the arcane trickster should be able to cover Rogue and Wizard pretty effectively in that mix once he reaches the PrC, and bards make every party better

thanks, guys! It looks like it's gonna be the rogue - but she will be played by the player of the 7th level cleric since I've just learned that she didn't survive that last fight after all. The new player has decided to go for straight two-weapon "human cusinart", so the new party (coming next saturday) will probably look like this:

Human (female, disguised as male), Ranger1/Fighter6, going for Tempest or just more fighter levels, fights with bastardsword and shortsword

Halfling (female), Rogue 7, no further details so far...

Human (male), Rogue3/Wizard4, a pyrotechnician and snakeoil salesman, going for Arcane Trickster
