What charts or Dm helpers do you use?

just like the title says.....I wanna know.

I got some of these little plastic sleeves for sheets and I wanna put charts for iniative or helpful DM type stuff in em...since I can use dry erase on them, so give me some ideas.

If you browse around here on the homepage or go over to Mortality.net, you can find a bunch of nifty DM helpers in their files section. As for using dry erase markers on plastic sheet protectors, don't! Use non-permanent Sanford pens (hint: they look like the permanent kind but will say "non-permanent" instead) and a damp papertowel instead. Dry erase doesn't work on plastic sheet protectors, at least not on the ones I have. The one time I tried dry erase, I wound up with my markings on there permanently. Overhead projector pens are what you want. Dry erase also makes permanent marks on vinyl, so beware using it on your battlemat!

I don't have any useful charts for you but here are a couple things you might find helpful.

Grease pencils work best on plastic sheets. They don't smear or rub off as easy.
They are also alot cheaper. I wouldn't use them on a battlemap though.

Our whole group use the plastic sleeves and grease pencils for their characters and spell sheets. Really helpful for keeping track of combat modifiers and spell durations.

When I DM, I use index cards in plastic rolodex sleeves. I put the monsters stats on the cards and have the players put their character stats on cards. Then I use these cards to keep track of initiative and any combat/spell effects going on.

I have a simple homemade initiative & round tracker sheet that's been a lifesaver for me in battles. I just made a double-column Word file with the numbers 30 through 1 listed with a couple lines after each number. Everyone roles init, and I mark their names in the slot next to their initiative number. There's usually enough space left over on the line for important combat notes like AC, HP, combat bonus and damage. I also have checkboxes at the bottom for ticking off round numbers, so at a glance I can see exactly where I am in the initiative order in which round. Very handy.
