I'm in two campaigns and in an amazing toss of Tymora's coin, I'm DMing neither. In the play-by-post game I'm in here at EN World, I'm playing a NG dwarf fighter with a soldier background. He's not the brightest guy (Int 8) and his personality reflects that in being prone to very straight forward, simple solutions that often involve breaking things. But he's dependable and loyal to family and friends. He has the defense fighting style to give an AC bump and offset him foregoing a shield in favor of wielding a maul, which he affectionately calls "Sweet Meduna" (Meduna being a reference to an obscure goddess of mead from Gaulish myth). In my local home group, I'm playing a CG halfling cleric of Brandobaris, the halfling demigod of trickery and adventure. Obviously, I took the trickery domain and to keep with the general roguish theme, I took leather armor, a sling, and dagger but kept a shield to use as a holy symbol. We randomly rolled our background and I wound up with sage. So I have the suggested traits of loving mysteries and being distracted by new information. I took the "book of terrible secrets" bond and have him trying to lay low until he can figure out what to do with it. My plan is to forego an ability boost at 4th level in favor of the skilled feat and pick up Deception, Stealth, and whatever third proficiency seems to be needed at the time.
