D&D 5E What classes do you want added to 5e?

Sure, I play a lot of The One Ring, where you have a strong incentive to tie actions to your personality traits. And it's fun.

TOR also has "Fellowship Focus", which grants specific mechanical bonuses in relation to one member of the party, who you select.

But the idea there is that you pick traits/bonds that appeal to your sense of story, and then you look for opportunities to leverage those traits and bonds during the game. That is very different from just saying, "Sure, he inspires me" without any kind of opportunity cost or trade-off.
I'm not seeing how it's different. And, again, the player always has a choice to flavor the healing in any manner they choose. It is not required to be inspiration.

what is the difference with a bard, a cleric, or a wizard and a warlod??

You shouldn't get to be harry potter (to other PCs*) because you chose the harry potter class class.
You shouldn't get to be a ninja (to other PCs*) because you chose the ninja class class.
You shouldn't get to be healer (to other PCs*) because you chose the healer class class.

The only decent analogy there is harry potter. No, you should *not* get to play Harry Potter because you chose the class. What does that leave for everybody else? The Ron Weasly class?

There's a reason that some Star Wars RPGs don't allow Jedi PCs, and why Conan RPGs don't let you play, well, Conan.

Great, then let's not fluff it as that. Let's fluff it as...I know...magic.

Ok, half-elf of the opposite gender with really high Charisma who wears a chainmail bikini.

um... I don't get it.

I had a player who in a game I ran was really into anime... we all used to groan when he would describe his 19 str 14 dex 22 Con 16th level character (4 fighter 6 barbarian 6 some pristige class) as a 4'9 89lbs girl with a sword ment for a titan to wheild... but we let him play it anyway (although I did often think of a giant when I thought of the character)

I also played at a table across from the same guy playing a 'knight' from 3.5 and his character was a drow woman in a metal sports bra and metal G-string... that was refluffed +5 invunrable full plate... also very groan inducing

I would caution you that Aldarc doesn't like snarky...
I don't feel like I was being snarky. You can check my posting history to confirm that I KNOW snarky. :) I just don't know what you're going for. That player freedom of choice over their character's motivation is absolute is a truism. That players should be willing to fit their characters into the game as it is played is also, I certainly feel, a truism. If there's no warlord player, what's your issue? If there is, bend and play along.

I hate starwars games like that... my first 4 campaigns in the old D6 system were under 2 DMs who ruled "No jedi, no droids, and you can't own your own ship" they were the least star wars like games ever....

How about You play harry potter, and I play captian America, and that guy over there plays buffy the vampire slayer and then we all have fun...

Then I apologize for misunderstanding your post. I thought the conversation was pretty straight forward and obvious.

If a fellow player suggests that they would like to explore romance and ask for one or more players' buy-in, you will likely have one of two opinions on the matter: 1) Cool, that sounds like a fun RP opportunity. Or, 2) That's not really what I'm going for.

Now, offering mechanical benefit for taking option #1 is manipulative. I don't think that's cool.
