In my older brother's online game, we just got handed a huge plateful of future adventure hooks. In his world, there is an artifact known as the Well of Stars, which allows travel between many worlds, including Shadowfell and Feywild. It is "broken" but we have one of the three stones needed to repair it (they were removed deliberately centuries ago). We've now been asked by a bunch of eladrin to find the second and third starstones, open the well, and then permanently disable some sort of Worldbridge that the Well connects to. This will stop the Shadowfell (and eventually all the other worlds attached to it) from getting sucked into the void and being destroyed. Unfortunately, there's a cabal of ancient wizards of some sort who think it would be a BAD THING to do this (We're not sure what their thinking is) so we don't dare do it openly. We'll have to slink around pretending to be on "other adventures" and then dash off on quests for the starstones under cover. AND we've discovered that the two stones are being held by 1) an undead emperor of a long-fallen realm that originally built the Well, and disabled it purposely. 2) a very powerful evil dragon - who already hates us because we beat one of her children into submission a year or so ago. But before we start on either of those two missions we are going to have to go rescue an NPC (Dudley Whitehelm the paladin) who is the "truelove" of my slightly crazy eladrin wizard. If we don't rescue him, my PC Chaedi will drive everyone insane with her incessant whining and pleading. However, we do have some reason to believe that Dudley does know something about the Well of Stars and the bad guy who wants to open it up and suck the worlds into the void. So it may not be a total waste of time.
