What d20 Purchases to you Regret?

I wouldn't say that. If anything, it shows that different people have different needs/uses for supplements. I see a whole lot of books being praised and trashed at the same time. Except for R&R. That thing is taking a beating.

Yeah well I still say you can't please anyone all the time. If that were true, I'd be a rich man.

Btw Felon, disagree, there's a lot of uses tatical wise in CC 2. Ratmen breeds, evil outsiders, Night Touched, blood sea tainted things.... So far I don't see one that's not good.

A person without a complaint is a person who has no standards.

Besides, while plenty of folk have their own isolated, individual complaints, I believe the more people who pipe up about the same books, the better served future buyers will be. Particularly the more details one can give as to why they don't like certain books.

Right...and if you believe that one I have swamp lands in Florida to sell you to that is FILLED with gold bullion.

Look I won't argue about Faithful and Forsaken. It's wasn't great yes, but I still ranked it HIGHER than Penumbral Pentagon. That is the ONLY SL book I've EVER regreted getting. No consistency to the group, a lot of trouble figuring out any sense of connecting existing products mentions with current ones. That's not even including a much needed revision of Penumbral Lord. I will say though your reaction Trick is what I expect at times. If it isn't godlike perfect in some respects, it's not good.

But come on. Relics and Rituals 1 might have a few flaws but it's still a great book for paladins, rangers, druids and even clerics. Same with R&R2 (though I'll grant you the mix bag worth of spells was bad in some levels. But spells like Beetle Swarm, Austialian Scream, Essential Blade, etc, were by far some of the more innovative spells to come on in a d20 product in a while.)

I won't ask people to forgive my ire here. I get enough of it else where. So what I will say is grow up people. If you can design better books in the time alotted AND STILL manage a personal life, then do so. Step up and put your money where your mouth is. My point is S&SS might have ups and down but what REALLY sickens me is the amount of bashing I see on mechanics just because people THINK they can do better. I congradulate the freelancers, the authors and the developers, not just of WW, S&SS and it affiliates but ALL d20 products who put their necks out there than try some time. Until I see that from others, I just say keep quiet.

Strangely enough, I think I got enough use out of most of the splatbooks to justify their purchase. With the sad exception of Song & Silence. Blah.

I noticed Touched by the Gods earlier on someone's list... like that person, I found this book to be stuffed with good ideas, but of little overall use.

My point is S&SS might have ups and down but what REALLY sickens me is the amount of bashing I see on mechanics just because people THINK they can do better.

I bought Relics & Rituals and quickly found that it had no use in my campaign. I didn't like it and I sold it as soon as I could.

That said, I never thought I could do better. I only thought I should have spent my money more wisely.

Other purchases that ended up on eBay:

1. Deities & Demigods (that's what I get for buying a book online. Never underestimate the value of browsing before you buy)

2. Epic Level Handbook (Not my cup o' tea)

3. WotC 3.0 Splats (They redeemed themselves with Complete Warrior. Barely.)

4. Masters of the Wild (The worst of the splats. So bad it deserved to be called out by name)

5. Farscape d20 (I really liked the book, but player interest was nonexistent unfortunately)

6. Fading Suns d20 (see Farscape d20, above)

7. Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil (It's been years and still none of my groups has expressed the slightest interest. The forum on Monte's boards should win an award, because every time I want to pitch it, I read a few posts and back on the shelf it goes).

Everything else in my collection has at least seen some use.
