What d20 Purchases to you Regret?

Books that I have regretted buying:

Book of the Righteous (Not my take on Gods or align.)(Traded for 1 bx of minis.)
Mythic Races (I have gotten absolutely no use from.)
Deities & Demigods (stating Gods is just not my thing.)
d20 Star Wars 1st ed. (A new revision less than a year later! )
Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil (boring extensive dungeon crawl.)
Arcana Unearthed (not compatible with PHB classes! Must learn to avoid hype.)

Books that I have really enjoyed:
Manual of the Planes (Really helped me build out my cosmos.)
Oriental Adventures (Was basis for one of the best campaigns I ran.)
Call of Cthulhu d20 (This has been nice for breaks in our regular campaigns. :) )
3.5 PHB book (Class revisions for Bard, Druid, & Ranger make them playable.)

Mixed feelings:
Psionic Handbook (A lot of issues integrating this into campaigns because of PL).
FR books (I do not use FR and crunchy bits are too small.)

I thought I had posted my picks, but I didn't see them so here goes

Books I wish I hadn't bought
Sorcery and Steam - FULL of useless Prcs and some broken magic, was VERY dissapointing
D20 Star Wars revised - I love this book, none of my group wants to play it :(
WotC splat books- I have really not used these books all that much to justify me buying them. The good Prcs from them have been included in other books (ie. arcane trickster and duelist in the DMG)
Assasin's handbook from green ronin. I thought the assasin core class was a little broken, plus I have not used this book much.

Books I love
Pretty much any FR book - (espically lords of darkness and magic of faerun)
Traps and treachery 1&2 - these books have made my group view everything in a dungeon as a trap :D
Core books 3.5- changes were good...nuff said

Books that borderline
MM2- I do use this book, just not a lot
Dungeon magazine Sometimes hit or miss if I use anything from them.

Encyclopedia of Demons & Devils from Fast Forward Games was absolute crap. A friend actually bought it, and at the time I was running a campaign in which I needed unique demons and devils, not carbon copy mariliths and dretches.

Monsters of Faerun is the most overpriced garbage in my box, particularly since none of the creatures in it were ever used in our one FR campaign, which leads me to...

Forgotten Realms, only because we only played one campaign, about five sessions I think, and will probably never play it again.

Call of Cthulhu, because in spite of looking pretty cool, we have never played it and I can't even convince my players to try it.

d20 Modern again because we have never used it.

And that's about it. Of books I have seen others mention on here, I have used the hell out of all my Scarred Lands material (R&R, CC I & II, Ghelspad, Secrets & Societies, and Calastia: Throne of the Black Dragon) and just last night picked up the Termana campaign book. My players love this setting and I like it as well.

In spite of the binding problems, Midnight is now practically my favorite RPG product ever. After mine started coming apart I removed all the pages, punched holes in the inside margin, bound them together with string, and superglued them back into the hard cover. The only problem is my players are too caught up in their Scarred Lands campaign to let me start a Midnight campaign.

Son of Thunder and Crothian have the right idea-- since many of our tastes apparently differ, we should start posting a list and trading these things back and forth.

Immediately after posting this, I shall head to the Marketplace. If there isn't a thread dedicated to his purpose, I'll be starting one.

I totally agree with this, I noticed this one in the store so I didn't buy it. I can't stand the people think everything that Monte Cook puts out must be good

For me it's the opposite. I haven't cared for any of Monte's work except for AU :D ..though I still hate the dog, lizard & cat people  ...when I get my new homebrew up & running, I'll be using standard D&D races w/ AU.

Fortunately I have avoided a lot of the "hated" books mentioned.

My list is books i personally do not like that i bought, they are not listed because I have not used them, their lack of being used is my fault for my lack of motivation and lack of creativity. So those books will not be listed here, because I would be too embarassed to show how lazy I am.

My dislikes/regrets:

Maze of Zayene series. Yes, there is a Necro product I don't like.
Necropolis, Yes, another Necro product I don't like.
Relic and Rituals 1, i didn't buy 2.
Creature Collection 1, even though I am changing my mind because I have found a use for a creature or two.
Mythic Races, I believe this truly does (edit nasty words)

I have a lot of books that many have said they don't like, but i do, and i use them.

I like Ravenloft (except 3.5 PHB) The DMG surprised me in being worth having and I LOVE Denizens of Darkness. A lot of it doesn't/didn't get used, but that was my players faults, not the products. I used alot, threw out a lot too.

I like Spells and Spellcraft and Traps and Treachery 1.

I like Alchemy and Herbalism, lots of mineable ideas.

I like Tomb of Horrors, i actually use a lot of those monsters.

Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil has the same problem as any other MEGA-module, you CANNOT run it by itself! You must integrate it with other adventures outside of the context of the module itself.

Tomb of Abysthor and the Rappan Athuk series would suck if you did not run things outside of it, not because they are bad, but because it would wear you down. They all need to be broken up with plot ties outside of the respective dungeon.

Things that sit on my shelf, but I am glad I bought.

Oathbound
Wheel of Time
Oriental Adventures
Dungeonworld
D20 Traveller
D20 Modern

Plus others I cannot remember off of the top of my head.

Just goes to show how varied the tastes there are amongst us gamers.

I've bought almost nothing so I don't have a lot to contribute to this thread. All I have actually purchased are the PHB, DMG and MM in both 3.0 and 3.5, Manual of the Planes, Arms and Equipment Guide. Obviously, the AEG was a huge disappointment -- it just contained a bunch of stuff for increasing the tech. level of the game; I was hoping for arms for different technology levels (ie. bronze age, early medieval), better pricing and availability systems and information about the resources required for manufacturing things. Everything I wanted on that front ended up being provided either in from Stone to Steel or in Magical Medieval Society.

D20 I regret Buying

Defenders of the Faith, Masters of the Wild, Song and Silence, Sword and Fist and Tome and Blood. I bought them, read them and I have no use for them. I wasted my money.

Stronghold Builders Guide While I thought it was pretty good, I have no use for it. It just collects dust.

Demonology I am still trying to figure out why I bought this.
Waste of money again.

Book of Eldritch might I & II Again bought them, read them and shelved them. Went back and read them again, must have been under a spell when I bought them.

Traps and Treachery I like the book and it is neat. Never used it since I bought it almost two years ago.

Deitiesand Demigods Not what I thought it would be. Totally useless.

Scarred Lands - Ghelspad One book I never got any use out of at all. Nice book, just not using.

Non d20 I regret buying

HarnMaster, Harn Magic and Harn Player had it for awhile and never ever played it. Waste of money again.

d20 I love and do not regret at all

Dnd 3.0 Best update of DnD I have seen. Never upgraded to 3.5, mainly because of a long layoff.

Dm screen - Scarred Lands, Scarred Lands- Gazetter Relics and Rituals I get more use out of these books, then I thought possible. I do not even play the setting, but great.

Armies of the Abyss This is one of the best books I ever bought. I get somuch use out this, even if I play another game system.

Traveller d20 ust love it, even though it took me forever to figure out how to make a character. can pretty much use some of my other traveller books to.

Manual of the Planes Lots of use for me, help me solidfy my planes in my world.

Monster Manual II I regreted it at first, but lately I have been getting alot of use out of it. So changed my mind.

Psionics Handbook Not bad, occasionally get use out of it. Do not use for many things, but liked it.

Savage Species I really liked this book and one day will run a monsters against heroes mini-campaign.

Non d20 stuff I love

Harp Recieved as a present for my birthday. Really like this and if I was working I would have bought it myself. Has a few little problems, but totally enjoyed it. Leathal though.

Lejendary Adventure I just enjoy this game so much. Playing it now and in between d20 or Harp. Easiest system I have ever design anything for. Now have finish a rewrite of the Dark Theurgy, I designed.

What I wish for

Hero 5th, Fantasy Hero Just loved champions and really want this.

Other Harp and Lejendary Adventure Books Cannot get enough of it.
