What demands would the Fairy Queen make?

My players are about to approach Queen Mab the Fairy Queen (no, not "Faerie" Queen) and request that she give them an important, world-saving item. Mab will see the necessity of handing the item over, but that doesn't mean she won't demand something in return!

What fun, silly, interesting, disastrous, preposterous, or puzzling demands could she make of the party? If you were the Queen of the Pixies what would you want from a band of level-14 adventurers? I don't want this to be a combat encounter but either a puzzle or roleplay opportunity. Or maybe just a tough decision to make.

Would love even your most outlandish ideas.

Thanks,
R

i don't know why, or how this would be accomplished, but the very first keyword that popped in my head when reading this was "laughter"...
so some way to get 'laughter in a jar' (where she could open it and hear the joyous soundwhenever she wanted) or some riddle where the answer is laughter, or something like that.

alternatively, some sort of request that the pixies can't normally do because of their size (lift those fallen trees there and replant some stuff in the forest, etc).

i don't know... those are weak ideas, but it's what came to mind first - figured i'd at least still share it in case it spun off a better idea for someone else :)

She could demand a "Shrubbery" but that could turn out to be the name of a Shambling Mound large enough to be an appropriate combat encounter.

She demands them to give up something sacred they cannot regain once given- their dignity!

That is, they entertain the fey elite by singing heartfelt, decidedly un-adventurey songs and do other potentially humiliating but poignant activities. That is, they must cater and generally make a gala ball or other fey celebration successful. Hey, it worked for Circe. Batman lost something he might never have otherwise given up....

If you must add a deeper, more serious element here, maybe there is some strategic negotiations between her fey kingdom and somebody else (the other fairy court? Mortal kings? Other immortal races?). Perhaps somebody wants to sabotage it for their own nefarious purposes?

It should be something intangible and possibly ephemeral: a young child's first laugh, an old man or woman's favorite memory, the first kiss of a pair of true lovers, a tyrant's smile of satisfaction at the death of a hated enemy, etc.

Or you dip into the nasty side of faerie and have her make unreasonable demands for things which are trifles to her, but seriously difficult for the party to obtain. Really, anything she asks for should be a tremendous pain in the ass for the party.

I think I'd rather reason with fairies by telling them to give me what I want or I'll rip off their wings and trod them into the dirt. Perferably with a nice powerful caster like Merlin at my side. Or BE that powerful caster. And then just kill the whole bloody lot of them anyway when I'm done; they're all fading anyway, put 'em out of their misery. Fairies are spiteful backstabbing bastards with long memories so really, it's the safest way. :]

Give me your dreams, your love and your life
to have and to hold and to cut with my knife
before now and from now and never again
so give me your dreams and then be on your way...

One of the party must willingly remain behind and be her servant for 100 years. That will make a great debate about who it should be, or should it be anyone, or maybe they should just attack. If somebody chooses to do then they would become an NPC, but possibly come back later in the game with a different agenda (set by Mab)

Of course that means someone will need to role up a new character, but this could make good gaming legends about the noble loss of a character when it is actually the players choice.
