What did we all think of Indy?

For those bemoaning food prices, next year go get an Entertainment book (entertainment.com) They're full of buy-one-get-one-free coupons, even to some of the better restaurants. If you aren't a big eater or hate leftovers, find a buddy to split the book. The 2005 one is up now for $25 and it'll map out how close restaurants w/coupons are to Circle Center. There's about 1-2 dozen places at different price points within a mile or so.

Next Year

Remember when we used to get the convention book BEFORE the convention? Most of the professional organizations I belong to send out the convention book ahead of time or provide it online with descriptions of each session. I would like to know about some of the seminars ahead of time so I can plan for them. I would have loved to attended the WotC and Sword and Sorcery preview seminars, as well as several of the miniature painting seminars. Is there any way we can get some help ahead of time in knowing what is happening so we can plan accordingly?

That would be a great service!

For really good prices with good food-- The Old Spaghetti Factory is totally the winner. All the meals include drink, salad, a huge plate of pasta, and dessert...all for between $8-$10.

My husband and I ate for $20... and THAT is MEGA-CHEAP for us (we do love our food).

Hampton Inn had an excellent free breakfast. Donuts, bagels, waffles, biscuits and gravy, juice, fruit, oatmeal... was tastey... two thumbs up.

Ill tell you why I DIDNT go to the con.

It wasn't housing or food, I have relatives in Indy and could have stayed with them, nor was it airfare, as I live only a 4 hour drive from Indy.

It was the price of admission.

Couldn't cough up that much, especially if I had even a glimmer of a hope of buying anything while I was there. I almost came out, I was in the planning stage, then I saw the prices.

Find some way to bring that down, and Ill be there. (And before anyone jumps down my throat, I DO realize that running these things costs money.)

For goodness sake, don't park at the hotels unless you can wrangle it for free. Circle Center Mall's garages are MUCH cheaper. All day (until 10 pm) during the week is $8. During the weekends (again until 10 pm) it's only $2. They weren't charging for special events either (like they do sometimes if there's a Colts game). Maybe I'll make it my mission next year to try to save y'all some money (hmmm....maybe I can turn my basement into a bunkhouse; I live 15 minutes away from the con by car).

I think Indy is so crazily surperior to Milwaukee (minus The Safehouse) that it's not even funny.

I would like to see cheaper food, but I did just fine with the BBQ sandwiches from the convention center. they were good eating, and at $5 (chips included) were well within my budget.

Michelle's bagel plan is a good one, and I may well adopt it next year.

I was a little put off when the legions of teenage football teams traipsed through the con. I got into it with one of them (His comment "That guy in tights looks like fag", my response "He likley doesn't shower with other men there Jennifer"...we stared for a bit, then he and his guys continued on their way...I gotta not drink so much at the Con)

Didn;t we have to pay to get into the Con? What were football teams doing there? :\

Anyway. I love Indianapolis. If I have a complaint it's this: Do something about the humidity:)
