And that also includes keeping the focus of even one encounter from being "Drizzt suffers a messy death" *sticks out tongue at former DM who was stupid and made the entire focus of his FR game watching the well-known NPCs die, thus creating the problem he sought to avoid*

As Arrgh! Mark! has said, the DM will make or break this game, more so than in any other setting IME.
