What Do You Call This Popular Beverage?

Soda or pop. They're interchangeable.

Coke and Pepsi are two specific kinds of soda or pop.

If referring to a specific glass of drink (such as the picture) it’s going to be called whatever brand/flavor it is

If I don’t have a picture or drink in front of me, if I just want a carbonated drink then it’s ‘soda’ but if I have a craving for a specific flavor of soda then I’m going to say the brand./flavor that I want

I voted “Other” because, as an Army Brat I’ve lived in places that use each one of these terms. So now I default to asking for products by name (when I order them).

When I’m asking what’s available, I ask for “soft drink” options. But I rarely order them anymore, sticking mostly to tea, water, milk, vegetable/fruit juices and occasionally coffee for my non-alcoholic beverages.

I have tasted Coke before, but what makes it different from a Pepsi?

Completely different flavor. Pepsi is sweeter and its flavor tends linger longer (at least for me). Coke seems to cleanse the palate more.

As a resident of Tornado Alley, I have heard the terms soda, coke, and pop used pretty much interchangeably.

Pop, some call them cokes.

Cola, more generally Fizzy drink then specify with "only if youre adding rum"

Generically? Typically "soda".
The image does not contain enough information to tell whether it is Coke or Pepsi, or even whether it is cola or root beer...

... all headache medicines are called "Tylenols," etc.

Oh. That one is actually dangerous. The difference between Tylenol and Advil matters.

Different ratios of ingredients. I think Coke has more of a caramel flavor.

IIRC, Coke is also generally reported as "less sweet" than Pepsi.
Not that there's a meaningful difference in the amount of sugar in each.

Around here, at least, anything non-alcoholic fits in the "soft drink" category.
