What Do You Call This Popular Beverage?

Is that a generational and/or regional thing? I hear “fizzy” all the time in Auckland but have never heard “fizzy winkle” in the 20+ years I’ve been living here.

New one to me.

People will generally understand you if you say pop or soda. I don't really drink it anyway a rare sparkling duet eg on Sunday

Most of my family drinks Coke. I prefer Mountain Dew and have tried out its' various flavors (Voltage, Livewire, etc.) over the years.

In increasing order of specificity: "läsk" for any type of sweetened carbonated beverage, "cola" for the specific citrus/vanilla/cinnamon taste, and "Coke" or "Coca Cola" for that specific brand.

Here in New England, most refer to it as soda.

I'd call that a picture of a glass with a lot of wasted space - dump out the ice and you could fit a lot more soda in there.

I honestly don't know how Oklahomans manage to do lots of the things they do. But on topic: they apply branded labels to almost everything--tissues are all "Kleenexes," all headache medicines are called "Tylenols," etc.

If it’s actually Coca-Cola, then Coke. If another cola, then cola. If a different carbonated drink… well, there’s not a single word I’d use. Fizzy drink? Maybe soda.

I’ve heard “pop” in Christchurch a few times but mostly it seems to be “fizzy”.

Generally Pepsi is sweeter and slightly less carbonated.
