What do you dislike/hate in Dragonlance?

Obviously Dragonlance is not every fantasy and gaming fan's cup of tea. It might be worth noting, however, that as we develop Dragonlance for the d20 System we are attempting to understand some of the problems of past incarnations of DL in gaming, so we can produce superior product in the future.

Perhaps we might help?

one thing that I disliked was that each incarnation of the dragonlance RPG didn't support gaming in past-ages.

another is the revisionism in novels (great dragon beautifull in 5th age, and also in dragons of a new age I believe, described as ugly in war of souls, some small story had this problem whenthey wanted to expand an existing character), and in the RPG (restricted spell list matching the robe color, while the original adventure or novel didn't have those, healing power for the knight of solamia).

and for the RPG, a good small (one page) introduction to the world intended for player (perhaps one per race) is lacking, not all of them read the novels, and in fact if they want to play the original adventure, it's better that they don't.

Any others?

PS: if you want to post about why or what you like in Dragonlance, you can do so here:

cataclysms

What I really hated in DL, be it game or novels, was the whole Chaos War setup, no matter who was responsible in the end. After the War of the Lance, which was the only playable period with the products there were, thee was what, 25 years of peace? And then suddenly all goes up into flame again...and this time really nasty. The gods that just returned and established their powerr again had to leave, this time for good, magic that for some years could be used without fear of getting stoned to death was taken away as well...it could have at least a little more time until they blew up everything again. :(

Kenders. Slaughter all kenders. And torture them first.

Any race in that setting that's shorter than a regular dwarf. Kender, gully dwarves, tinker gnomes - kill 'em all. It's bad enough when all members of a race have the exact same personality, but when that personality is a particularly annoying one...

I especially dislike the fact that the DL races seem to have 'infected' the playing styles of 90% of the people I run into. I played online for a while and I cringed every time a halfling or gnome showed up because I knew they were going to annoy the heck out of me.

I am happy to report that the core Dragonlance RPG will provide all the rules necessary (and guidelines in support of) game play in different eras. In addition, we have products planned that will support adventuring in different Ages. Dragonlance is a world with a rich history, and one that has truly changed over time, and our products will explore these places and times in detail.

Blacksad, I think that "don't step on opossums" or "don't thread on opossums" would be a better translation.

To be on topic, I think it's obvious: the two-dimensional, bad-comical-relief, silly, jar-jar-binksesque, or even (to put my worst yet appropriate insult) "D&D:The Movie's Snails-esque" midgets. If they could become less idiotic and ridiculous, it would be great.

While there are aspects of both the books and the gaming material that I liked here are some things that really rubbed me the wrong way

the Green Gemstone Man

Railroading and or poorly written adventure material (World of Krynn Soth adventure set up).

Many kender have different personalities(Trapspringer, that kender tasslehoff was engaged to, Tarli Half-Kender, and Kronin Thistleknot just to name a few who are not much like Tasslehoff). Though some kender might have been bland in 5A or something, I found most kender(The one who traveled with Kaz not counting) to be very interesting. Gnomes are just all technology freaks, they have different personalities from each other though.
I hate 5th age a great deal.

I wouldn't know, I am not familiar with anything 5th age. All I know is that I cannot remember a single individual distinguishing feature of any gnome or kender in any of the DL stuff I read (beyond the name). All the things I remember are the 'racial personalities'. To me, that says that at the very least, the individual personalities are overwhelmed by the racial one.
