It largely depends on his career and the time of day. If it so happens that he is in a seafaring profession and it also happens to be Earl-eye in the morning, then a number of options present themselves. Some will tell you that the best place for him is the longboat until such a time as he becomes sober while others might suggest stowing him in the bilge and making him drink the foul liquid therein, perhaps as some sort of punishment. Some say a good dousing is the best remedy, by pulling the plug or turning a hosepipe on him while he occupies the scuppers, yet some few would soak him in oil (firm in the belief he will sprout flippers) or in whiskey, then setting him on fire, though this would obviously end any sense of friendship and might gain you an unwanted reputation as a harsh DM. So, too, might your reputation suffer if you hit him in the head with a hammer, tie him to the taffrail when she's yardarm under (or, alternately, hanging him from said yardarm by his toe nails), heave him by the leg in a running bowline, hang him from the sails til his eyes fall out, keelhaul him, take him and shake him (and try to wake him), slap him around (and call him "Suzie"), put him in a dress (and call him "Betty"), or shave his belly with a rusty razor. Less dangerously, you might choose to give 'im a dose of salt and water, give him bevvy with a twist of oil, or put him in his bunk with his pants on backwards (though this might backfire if caught in the act). There are those who would discount the idea of putting him into bed with the captain's daughter, but they have likely never seen the captain's daughter. In any event, you could simply put him in the back of the paddywagon and that would certainly be less murderous than sending him down to Davy Jones’ Locker, the ultimate in things one might do on such an occasion. Good luck making this very difficult decision!
